Is anything being done legislation wise in Nevada?
I hear there was a change in leadership there.

I am going to be visiting Las Vegas for the WSOP this fall and would like to carry concealed. Based on my research this seems like this will not be feasible since Nevada no longer accepts Utah/Florida permits. I currently reside in RI, but have a NY drivers license and I don't have a carry permit in either place (yet). From the looks of the states that Nevada has reciprocity with, most of them don't allow non-residents to get a permit or it has to be done in state and not by mail. I am aware that Nevada allows non-resident permits but seeing as I am across the country and am only going for ~2 weeks this is not an option. Open carry is also not an option seeing as I will be in casinos on the strip most of the time. Anybody have some good news for me and can point out what I am missing?

You're pretty much SOL this time around. Nonresident Nevada CFP instruction must take place in the State of Nevada. Even you had a RI or NY permit, Nevada does not recognize either one.
The only thing you can do is prepare for the next trip. Take a Nevada CFP class when you come in the Fall.
Good luck!

Call Kurt Gepke in Las Vegas. Nevada certified instructor. Does individual and small group instruction. Will even come to your hotel..
His web site is Home Page
I received my non resident NV permit 23 days after I gave Metro the paperwork.
You need to qualify on each semi auto type and caliber you want to carry, as they must and are listed on your permit. If you don't bring your pistol, you can rent at the range Kurt uses. i took both my Glocks and rented a Kimber so all my autos are on my permit. If you qualify with a revolver, then you are qualified for any revolver caliber. Kurt lent me his small revolver to certify.
Qualification is 12 rounds each at 3,7, and 10 yards. 6 rounds per mag.
revolver was 10 rounds each at the above distances
Open carry is NOT ILLEGAL in Nevada inside the casinos and on the strip, though I've not seen many people do it. The casinos can ask you to leave or trespass you if you don't. The visitors/vacationers on the strip sometimes "freak out" when they see someone with a gun. I think the visitors are sometimes more "freaked out" than the locals. We might benefit from an OC Rally down Las Vegas Bl during some convention time of year. Oh, wait, that's all year, 24/7/365!![]()
i know i have to qualify in state but do i have to stay instate to receive the permit? like can i come take the test, submit paper work and then have the permit mailed to me or do i have to pick it up in person?
im aware its not illegal but since i can't get booted from casinos that have tournaments i need to play in its not really an option.
