Post People in Portsmouth panic at the sight of man with guns.

This is crazy! This guy who had just returned from the range couldn't find a parking space near his Portsmouth home, so he parked a few blocks away and carried his shotgun and pistol from his car to his house. Several people freaked out and called 911 and the police responded in force. Lucky the police actually know the law in Portsmouth and didn't charge him with causing a public disturbance.
The article is a joke, check it out for yourself.

Why did they run the s/n on the guns? Is that legal or did they just doop him into letting them do that?

And what do you think people should do if they see a person carrying a shotgun and pistol near a school? Shoot him before he enters the school and starts shooting kids?

If it's legal to open carry, why should he "carry them on a case"? They need to better inform the sheep, I mean unarmed subjects, I mean community.

People are not going to ignore a perceived threat regardless of whether the underlying act is legal. Same as someone parking near a school when the kids are leaving or going to school. Or three people walking into a bank wearing ski masks. Nothing illegal about it, but people are going to react to such behavior. May be innocent may not be. If a person is going to walk around playing Rambo they have to be expected to be perceived as a nut.

I used to live across the river from Portsmouth, NH... While the choice may have been legal with a permit.. he could have carried the shotgun and pistol in a gun case ... more so when you have a big navy population there... there is a also court house in that area and several banks and business's... He could also get himself a CWP so he could be more discrete...

What does that have to do with anything? They did not stop him while he was transporting them in his car. It's not legal to run the SN number of a legally owned firearm in NH. He caved in and allowed them to run the SN.

The AG of NH has already said open carrying a firearm is lawful in NH and is not reason enough to stop a person. He could have kept walking, becasue they did not have a lawful reason for stopping him.

He was walking past a school on PUBLIC property (side walk) GET OVER IT.

What the Hell are you talking about? May have been legal with a permit? FYI, NO PERMIT IT NEEDED TO OPEN CARRY!!!!

Why should he carry them in a case? It's his right under state law and the state constitution"[Art.] 2-a. [The Bearing of Arms.] All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state."

Again what does the Navy have to do with it?

Once again what do Banks and courts have to do with it? You can legally carry your firearms into court houses(RSA 159:19 II,Firearms may be secured at the entrance to a courthouse by courthouse security personnel.) in NH as well as most banks.

So again I ask why should he have to get a CWP? enjoy living in FL. You may find the freedoms we have here in NH to much for you to handle. We take "LIVE FREE OR DIE" to heart.
