Well??? What's the good word?
Silence, apparently, at least with regard to the question on the table. You've got a better chance trying to get a chicken to grow 4 legs than applying for a New Jersey CCW Permit. I got my FL Non-Res through the NJCSD's Right to Carry Roadshow they sponsor every once in a while. South Cariolina's next once I get a chance to get down there to take the class. The closest I'll get to carrying legally in NJ is when I carry here at home.

I don't know if I can recall the statistics correct but I think I have read that in total NJ has only approved something like 40 permits.
Wouldn't be surprised, nor would it surprise me to find that those 40 went to the well-healed and/or politically connected.
By the way, welcome to the party! Nice to have you here. You'll find some really great people, some astonishingly smart and remarkably intelligent posts...and posters. Jump right in and have a good time.

That number must exclude the armored car guards. So that number must refer to the politically connected, as Ektarr said.
I didn't even realize this thread was still going. I'm honestly not sure what they wrote on any letters or applications. Maybe they are lying...I dunno. I've certainly seen what my uncle referred to as his permit, it has a fingerprint of his index finger on it.
Oh, and they answer phones for a large company and are hardly rich or connected.
Please, when you see your relatives again, ask to see their permits. Turn em over, and look for "work restricted", or whatever else might be written there.
It's making us all crazy just to hear about them having permits. All because we know how the socialist tax&spend gulag functions in NJ.
I once had a NJ carry permit. Many, many years ago, while working on an armored car. I applied through the NJSP. Got the permit one week later. Went to the power mad Superior Court Judge, to be drilled&filled about the work restrictions he attached to the permit. Absolute insanity.
I do know of a gun store owner in Bloomfield, who is friends with the Bloomfield Chief of Police, and has a permit. This knuckle head has a dangerous sense of humor.
First, his permit is work restricted. Second, he open carries 24/7, and wears one of those phony badges on his belt, to make you think he is some kind of LEO.
He tells people the law will never know if he is coming or going to work. Wait till he is challenged about the concealed carry badge he bought on the web? Surely they will charge him with impersonating a cop.
I have not lived in NJ for some time, but NJ people might know this fellow? He has a gun shop in the basement of a single family home in Bloomfield?
Beware, he claims to be a gunsmith. DO NOT ever allow him to do anything to your guns. You would be better off doing it yourself.
Have a nice day:)

Sounds to me like a basic firearms ID card. That allows you to purchase and possess firearms, and to carry rifles and shotguns for lawful purposes (such as hunting). It does not entitle the owner to generally carry a firearm on his person in public, and therefore is not a carry permit.
I've seen a carry permit issued by NJ, and it had a photo on it, not a fingerprint.
