Smile New Connecticut permit holder that travels

Hi my name is David and Im new to this post.

I was recently granted my permit to carry by the state of CT. I also own property in Florida and travel back and forth 3 or 4 times per year. I would like to know the best way to get reciprocity with other states inbetween so that I can carry as much as possible while Im making the trip and when I reach Florida. Should I just apply for a Florida permit? Can I apply for a non-resident Florida permit? Any info will be appreciated and thank you in advance.

Yes you can apply for a non-resident in Florida, but the road trip down, you won't be able to carry in NY & NJ. I believe you may encounter a problem in Maryland, DC, & South Carolina. Go to the NRA's website for reciprocity. NRA-ILA :: Issues

Good Luck & Welcome to the site.

Greetings from the Hoosier State and welcome to USA Carry! Enjoy the site!

As for being able to carry, yes, I would recommend getting a FL nonresident permit. If you drive there, be forewarned that many of the northeastern states you'll be driving through (for example, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and D.C.) don't honor that permit, or any others for that matter.

I recommend three resources.
1. This forum under resources Interactive Concealed Carry Permit Maps
2. Handgunlaw.us Non Resident Permits
3. You can order the Florida forms here: Form/Pamphlet Request - Division of Licensing, DOACS
