Default New from West Virginia.
Hows it going ladies and gents. I dont have my permit yet but I am taking the classes needed since prior military doesnt matter in West Virginia. I have been looking around the site a few days now and looks like I can learn alot from you guys. I am going to carry a Springfield XD .40 with a galco walk about holster. If anyone has any advice please feel free to tell me, I am pretty new to pistols and could use all the help I can get.

P.S. Just because you don't have a permit doesn't mean that you can't carry. You are aware that West Virginia does allow unlicensed open carry, whether you're in or out of a vehicle, aren't you? Have you done any open carrying? Do you plan to at least do that until you receive your permit?

Yes I have been open carrying for a while now and plan to do so until I get my permit.
