Thumbs up Oneida Co. - Restrictions Removed

I went down 2/15/11 to add a pistol and also to apply to have the restriction removed. Dan asked me what my "compelling reason was". I told him that I work with violent inmates which some when released stay in the area. He got up and retrieved an application from the closet and handed it to me. Told me to complete it and bring it back, that it would go to the bottom of the pile. I thought he was professional and helpful. Sometimes he can be "blunt" with his comments and directions.

    I completed the three-piece application ...
    1. background check for family court
    2. background check for the feds
    3. 10 questions about problems, arrests, drug addiction, mental instability ... etc since I have had my permit and the question that pertained to what the compelling reasons for the restrictions being removed was.

I turned the application in 2/22/10, Dan was polite and told me "it will be about a month". I picked up my new unrestricted pistol permit on 6/22/11, taking a little under four months to received the approved letter.

Forgot to add that I waited about 3 years after my permit was issued to attempt to get the restrictions removed

Dan, Pat and the judge are fair and reasonable. Of course, they must operate within the law and culture of the law in NY state. Being polite and nonconfrontational goes a long way to getting things done in the office.

    Fatmax2,
Congrads on getting your Restrictions Lifted. We shouldn't have to go through all of that kind of red tape. Once Permits are issued, they should be Full Carry without any Restrictions.Anyways I'm happy for you, It's an good feeling knowing that you can Carry 24/7 without the possibility of getting your permit revoked. Once again, Congrads
