i need an answer. i live out side the city limits and i have one house on one side and another on the other side they are about 30 to 40 feet from either side my question is can i shoot a high power rifle such as a 270,50cal black power,30.06,22 long rifle from my back poarch. im asking cause i can't find any laws on the distance from a deweling you must be thank you.

In NY it is 500 feet from any dwelling you do not own. 30 to 40 feet IMO is being a poor neighbor.

Look at the hunting laws of your state. Shooting from your "poarch" with a deer rifle having neighbors 30 feet away is not a good idea.

thanks for the replys. i was just trying to find out the shooting laws. i have a person that lives next to me and i have tryed to talk to him about shooting his guns but seems to do no good.called the sheriff office to ask the laws and they said if he has a back stop he can shoot all he wants that cant be wright. i mown 35 rifles ranging from 22 to 444 so i am not anti gun i just never shot a gun at my home always at range to sight in for hunting.thanks to everyone that responded to my question.
