NC Res Permits Only

On the Permit Reciprocity map is a listing of States that reciprocate NC's CCW permits and also a listing of States that described as:

"NC Res Permits Only:
Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Michigan, New Hampshire, South Carolina, West Virginia"
What exactly does this mean?

In some states, they give out concealment permits to non-residents. So when it comes to reciprocity, some states only honor permits ONLY IF you are the resident of the state that issued it to you.

However, you don't have to worry because you cannot apply for conceal carry permits in NC if you're not a resident. Therefore, all valid NC permits will be Res permits.
