Default Catawba Valley Community College Offering CCW Classes

Catawba Valley Community College will offer two Concealed Carry Handgun Permit classes in December.

In Hickory, a class will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Dec. 10-12 in Room 1001 on the CVCC East Campus.

Jack Simons will teach the class, which meets the requirements of the concealed handgun permit law in North Carolina. Topics will include when and where a person can carry a concealed handgun and the use of deadly force.

Anyone who wants to obtain a permit to carry a concealed handgun on their person or in their vehicle must take the class. Students must be at least 21.

The fee is $75. Deadline to register is Monday.

In Taylorsville, a class will be offered from 6 to 10 p.m. Dec. 7 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Alexander Center.

Derek Ellis will be the instructor. Students must be at least 21.

The fee is $75. Deadline to register is Saturday.
