I've heard it's a highly controversial book, but someone recommended it to me because of the extremity gun control laws can play. Has anyone here read it?

I read the book about 12 years ago. Good read.
I think he is still in the St. Louis area and once ran for state office.
Yes, I just finished it a couple of weeks ago. It was hard to put down and wife got mad a couple of times. A very good read which really makes you think. I highly recommend it.

Yes, I read it cover to cover this summer. In many ways difficult to read, filled with minutiae of hand-loading, esoteric large game rifles and a somewhat disturbing--almost juvenile--treatment of sex and sexual situations.
Get past the above, however, and you will have a lot to think about after finishing the last 1/3 of the book.
Recommended.
I have read it twice, and probably will again... Other than the few sex parts, it is VERY GOOD!
