Abiding is not being brainwashed. I'm glad you are a law abiding citizen. Its thinking that your laws are righteous, and you feeling strongly enough they are correct that you feel its good to have a training requirement. That brainwashed to me. Oregon required training, I went through it, I followed the law, but I think its wrong.Originally Posted by jhodge83:269410
Good question, I'll try to find that after my shift. Civilians estimated 2.5 million every year...Originally Posted by jhodge83:269403
We aren't taking about total amount though, but the ratio between training and accidental hits of bystanders. Police train more, civilians shoot better.
God gets blamed for a lot of things now days, they ask “why would He let this happen?, Why doesn’t He stop it? I really don’t know, but I wonder if He wants to ask us the same questions. All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing
SC is certainly not an anti gun state. Anyone who wants a gun can own one and I know several guys who safely cc and others who hunt regularly. This story dealt with a man who shortcut the concealed carry requirements and faces the penalties. You don't have to get a concealed carry permit if you don't chose to, but if you do the laws are clear on what is required. I'm all about 2nd amendment rights (and first, and fourteenth, and all of them) but when you chose to take the lazy way to a cc permit, you are lying to the government, yourself and others. Why spend the $65 if you're not going to be properly instructed? I paid $150 with about 6 hours in the classroom and two at the range. You can get it for less but with that you get free shooting privileges during subsequent classes if you ask permission and you get a professional instructor to testify as a character witness is court should you ever face those consequences of a righteous shooting. $150 well spent and a well taught class. Character counts and the busted instructor didn't have enough.
The instructor was not only cheating the state but also cheating the students. They paid for instruction on laws and guns but were denied that training which they need whether or not they thought they did. The course is not about just shooting a gun but all the things involving carrying a gun in SC and when you can and should use it or when not to use it. As for passing or not there were two ladies in my class that did not pass. The shooting portion of the class involves not just a test but instruction on shooting and technique etc. After that you are tested. You need to hit a target the size of a person (life size target) 35 out of 50 rounds from distances of 3,5,7,10 and 15 yards I think it is. 10 rounds at each distance. The two ladies I mentioned hit the target a total of 3 times combined. They were given extra practice and help but could never do any better. I would not want to be around them when they are trying to shoot someone.
