Married since August 13 2010 (twas a Friday). Lol. Owned 2 beautiful dobermans until wife's psycho mom and dad kicked us out for giving them 600 dollars for rent that they never shut up about even though we were the only 2 out of 8 people paying their bills. Sorry got of track there for a minute.
Tired of being mistreated. About to become the mistreater. 23 yrs old now and can't even afford a place of my own even though I'm a fully licensed mechanic. Wrong career choice for Michigan I guess. Any suggestions? Try not to be rude, I've dealt with it my whole life. Rude is a bad suggestion or maybe not. How should I know I'm just a dumb kid.

If you can move, move to SD or ND...they have 3% unemployment there. One of our sons is living there and his boss keeps giving him more hours than usual because they can't find enough workers. He will be coming back here to MO possibly to be unemployed for a few weeks, months or even years. He will be 23 next week and he will leave his job after finishing his graduate school this coming May (and possibly live with us until he is 44 years of age.)

Hello, my name is Lowell & I'm new here. I'm in training to be a grumpy old fart. I was a Fire Captain, EMT, Haz-Mat Technician, Deputy S&R Dive Commander until I went out on a medical with Spine Cancer, so I'm a spineless bastard too...lol... I'm in remission now. In an earlier life I was also a Federal & Casino Security Officer (not at the same time). I'm a proud papa of a WTF, oops, I mean WFT (Wirehair Fox Terrier) named Duff, he's my love.
Thank you Tucker's mom
Forget law enforcement imo (ya don't get paid enough to get shot at), go back to school and get a 4 year degree in business or something or if you want to go for only 2 years or less look into diagnostic medical sonography. Good money potential (45000-60000 yr or more) for time invested. Helicopter pilots are in short supply and high demand. Since you are already a mechanic you could look into getting your A&P license to work on aircraft but you'll more than likely have to relocate and if you continue education afterwards sky is the limit, pun intended. Go into business for yourself in something you are passionate about. Open a gun shop (a FFL is not expensive), a beer store or something people desperately want or need. One thing that seems to be on the rise other than firearms is a want for survival gear and food. You could open an online store via ebay and sell that stuff. All it takes is money and your dreams can be satisfied. I wish I had some to invest.
Hope this helps.

Yall are pretty kind souls and that's hard to find. Thanks again for the suggestions. Greatly appreciated and all will be considered in starting our new life.
Tucker's Mom mentioned ND. Watch that oil and gas industry there. You can make some good money but the hours are long (roughly 70-80 per week), people are living like animals because there aren't many places to live yet and food is expensive as shelter will be too due to people making good money. If ya got a class A CDL I hear they are making 100,000+ yr but again working long hours and sleeping in the truck most of the time. Your young enough and if you could deal with that and put away enough money in a few years to do something else that might be just the ticket.
