that was laughable then and it is laughable now. it makes a huge assumption that ANY country would be amicable to giving up its sovereign right to protection to some third party which is subject to political pressures. the united nations operates on that assumption to this very day and its effectiveness is zero. no country whether democratic, socialist, or autocratic will ever allow this to happen. the only thing that happens, and this goes on thru out the history on the united nations,is that it is used as a tool to stall while other nations proliferates their own weapons. or commit mass genocide on its own citizens. the united nations is useless and a farce.
Hillbilly proud.... you have a problem with that?

And yet it is 51 years later, just how long does this "disarm the world" take anyway? I wonder just how many states or nations actually signed on to this document. Or was it really laughed down the tubes.

The UN came into existence about the time WWII ended (1945). In the late 50's and 60's it had yet to be dominated by the countries that seem to hold life so cheaply as they do today.

Sounds like the beginning of Agenda 21?
Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia...Tenche Coxe, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.
