He was convicted of some crimes, but I've read that he is a city councilman now. I also read that the arresting officer has been promoted since the incident.

Orange County should have fought this more. It sets a bad precedent for people feeling that they can resist arrest and get away with it, along with some LEOs believing that they are above the laws normally obeyed by everyone else.

Maybe they did use racial profiling, but that's no excuse to get violent over a minor traffic incident. Campbell vastly overreacted and broke the law himself. He should have taken the ticket, then filed the lawsuit and he would have been entirely in the right. As it is, he ended up making a total fool of himself.

You're right on, Toreskha. If he would have taken this approach, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would have jumped to his defense, calling for disciplinary action against the arresting officers, and patting themselves on the back, while ignoring the problems that really ail Black people, such as the 70% out of wedlock birth rate for Black babies.
