So exactly why should he bother to do anything at all with the Florida permit, especially if it costs $$?
I apologize for not checking the map. Fortunately these days, more states are adding states through reciprocity agreements, but every now and then you get a state like Nevada that subtracts them. What is subtracted from one state permit's reciprocity may not affect another permit. That was my line of thinking here. If it's too expensive, then don't do it. Florida charges $15 and New Hampshire charges $3 for updates. I would do it for that price if the permit was new. Didn't mean to offend.

No offense taken - I just personally wouldn't pay even $1 to obtain a piece of paper from the government that would be of no benefit to me.

You have six months according to state law to get a valid TN permit once you become resident of TN regardless of what other permits you have. Below is a quote from the applicable section of the TN law.

"If a person with a handgun permit from another state decides to become a resident of Tennessee, such person must obtain a Tennessee handgun permit within six (6) months of establishing residency in Tennessee. Such person will be processed as a renewal applicant if the eligibility requirements of the other state are substantially similar to the eligibility requirements of Tennessee. View application requirements by state for persons holding a Handgun Carry Permit from another state and applying for a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit."

That looks so much like my post #4 that it's scary!

Yeah I noticed that after I posted my post. Ah well at least it's accurate information posted twice and not disinformation.

Ancient Chinese proverb: Better the truth be told many times again, than a falsehood spoken once.

Actually, I just made that up...

If you hadn't admitted that I would never have known. It sounded both ancient and Chinese. If you ever want to swap professions you may have a future in the fortune cookie industry. :)
