Default Open carry in my home

When I'm home I always strap on my S&W MP40, when the pizza kid shows up at my house his eyes go straight to the 40, I could give him a dollar and he would never know. My wife thinks I will get in trouble, but I'm in my home and the gun is holstered. What's your opinion?

I open carry in my house all the time too. I also have quick access to my WASR10 too (if the pizza man is late). Its perfectly legal.

I carry 24/7 when possible to include while inside my house, or outside doing yard work. That said, I would check local laws since you are located in NJ which is its own country not protected by the 2nd amendment. Try the NJ forum maybe?

    Carrying around your home? Fine.

Bragging that it scares the crap out of the pizza boy? Lame. Very very lame.

I agree with Phillip, it's people like you that give gun owners a bad name. Scaring the pizza guy? Seriously? But on the topic, I carry anywhere I go legally. At home I open carry inside and outside.

Not to be repetitive, but I agree with golddigger14s about checking out the law as it applies to New Jersikstan. You may have the legal right to carry openly in your home, but I read an article awhile back that had language stating even if you were in your home and OC'ing legally, if a neighbor or an LEO happened to see you through a window, then there may be a problem. I'm not stating this as fact, and unfortunately I cannot locate the article that I read, but I am saying it just for another item to think of when you do OC in your home. All you need is some reactionist neighbor poking their nose where it does not belong, and you have to go through unnecessary BS. I grew up in Elizabeth and Irvington, so I am not just a New Jersikstan outside hater. My best advice is to take your family and move on to greener pastures. And don't scare the pizza kid, he brings you baked discs of bread with red gravy, cheese, and a variety of other tasty toppings. Treat them well and tip them more than a buck too.

He never said he was scaring the pizza guy, maybe the kid is in awe that this guy has the balls to wear/carry a gun in NJ.

I guess I gave fathers and gun owners everywhere a bad name when my daughter's new boyfriend got wild-eyed at the sight of my gun when I met him the first time. Then my daughter has to go and make it worse by getting me this sweatshirt:

    My response.... get over it.

BTW, in Washington law there is a specific exception to the "brandishing" law for in your home/business. You're welcome to display your gun any way you like in your own home or business:

    RCW 9.41.270
    (1) It shall be unlawful for any person to carry, exhibit, display, or draw any firearm, dagger, sword, knife or other cutting or stabbing instrument, club, or any other weapon apparently capable of producing bodily harm, in a manner, under circumstances, and at a time and place that either manifests an intent to intimidate another or that warrants alarm for the safety of other persons.

    (a) Any act committed by a person while in his or her place of abode or fixed place of business;

Does the sight of my gun scare you? Have a tissue...

    Thats freakin weak.
More than likely, you strap it on just before the pizza guy gets there to impress him or scare him.
Open carry at home? What kind of question is that anyway?

He never said he was scaring or trying to intimidate the pizza boy. He is just saying that the pizza boy is one of the few people that do see his openly carried gun while at home and he cannot help but notice how the pizza boy stares at it.

If he said that he put on his gun only when the pizza boy came over, that would be lame. Reminds me of a pedophile preparing to flash somebody when an unlucky person gets in range.
