I have to disagree with the "Communism is gone" phrase, it is alive and well and living in Washinton DC right now. It is as much a part of the problem as the Terrorists (Islamic fundementalists, for those who are more PC). It is weakness the enemies of liberty are exploiting. If it were not the Muslims, it would be someone else. We have lost our cultural identity, we have lost our character, we have lost our strength.
Intolerance and descrimination are required to keep these things. This does not mean hate, especially hate the person (a friend of mine said "hate the sin, love the sinner), this means do not tolerate the behavior in your home. The level of intolerance should be proportional to proximity, a tourist visitng for a couple of days should be treated with great understanding and tolerance, they do not know any better, nor should they be expected to. If they are staying for 6 months, we MUST insist they learn the basic manners and customs of our neighborhood. If they buy the house down the street, we must insist they fit in and adopt the ways of their new home.
This is basic manners, as well as survival. Manners dictate that when you are visiting someones home, you adopt their customs, when you move in, you learn and adopt all of their rules. America is our home. When people visit, we should be open and hospitable. When they move in, we should gently instruct them on the ways and customs of their new home. If they refuse, then we have every right (and resposibility) to insist they learn or leave. If necessary, it is our DUTY to throw them out, just as you would any ill mannered house guest who refuses to live by the rules of the home.
These are social condition, not legal or political ones. These should be enforced by the People, not the government. The problem has become when we do insist the people comming into our home obey our rules, they sue, they protest, they spew hate at us for trying to enforce the rules of our home. At some point we are going to have to stand up and say enough.
This shooting is one more example of someone who is trying to force his rules into our house. Those that defend him are working towards the demise of the Guiding Ideas of our country. This is a war of cultures, if we are to survive, we must become intolerant of those that demand we change in our own home. Even if the idea is one of tolerance, then we must insist they be tolerant.
You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once.
