I saw some political pundit from Alaska on the boob tube some weeks ago. Can't remember exactly, but he might have been a Democrat. At any rate, his advice was not to underestimate Sara Palin. He commented on the news of her lack of intellectual capacity by saying that she was very smart and that people in Alaska knew that.

Granted I did not find her initial interviews during the campaign up to my level of snuff. But, I have been following her reasonably closely since then and think she's quite improved on her delivery.

I'm sick of the "elites" who think they are entitled to run this country (and our lives) and would welcome a hard-working, common-sense, conservative type in the White House. A real change. Whether that's Sara, we'll see but she's worth watching. BTW, don't her popularity numbers now rival Obama's? For what that's worth.

    FWIW

HootmonSccy, I think your comment is rude and offensive. Maybe she didn't go to Harvard or Yale, but she's not screwing anybody in the Oval Office (or the Governor's Mansion, in her case), and she certainly has more credentials than either the Peanut Farmer -OR- his competitor for the Worst President in History Award, the Community Organizer in Chief, Comrade Obama. She offers to bring morality, common sense and a refreshing positive outlook to the office. She's managed to successfully lead the largest State in the Union, with one of the most important military presences of any State - the DEW System is positioned there and it is a key outpost in the defense of North America. She held as high as a 93% popularity rating among Alaskan Republicans and has more Executive "time-in-grade" - even now, after almost a year as President!! - than does Obama.

As for Republicans not having an alternative to the Healthcare debacle...sure they do! It pertains to leaving alone a system that works just fine, and addressing that part of the equation which doesn't. Instead of reforming the health care system, reform the Legal system and institute Tort reform...get the freaking lawyers out of the Health business!

Y'know, for a group who's supposed to be concerned about "conflicts of interest", it seems counter intuitive to me that Washington permits Lawyers to make the law. Doesn't that seem a little too self serving to you? But people keep lauding the Democrats, completely forgetting that the Governors who stood at the schoolhouse door with the State Police and their dogs, refusing admission to little black boys and girls, were largely Democrats! Today, especially, with the Harry Reid's comments about Obama coming to light, it should be obvious to anyone with an objective mind that the Democrat Party wallows in a double standard of humiliating proportions.

Get off the Sarah Palin bashing train, Hoot. It's unbecoming for a thinking person and your own credibility suffers. There are far worse choices that could be made...including the one that was!

What did I say that was SOOOOOooooo rude and offensive.. Please tell me.. She has plenty of detractors in Alaska..

OK - Do we not all remember the Wizard of Oz?? The Scarecrow had a brain all long.. He didn't get one from the wizard, now did he??

I don't think she is the brightest bulb in the box, but I didn't say she was stupid either..
Everything I said (except my disagreement that she has a brain) was supportive of her.. When I said she didn't have a brain, I did not mean that she was stupid, just like when it was said she had a brain, that she is an running neck and neck with Einstein... She has her place and her assets, and she should stay with what she is good at..

It's just my opinion, worth as much as anyones.. I don't think she is the great conservative savior, no more than I thought Obama was the great liberal savior of all that ills this great country..

I've been called rude, offensive, mindless, non-thinking, and a few other choice assassinations on my character...

OK.. Let me take a step back here..

    I'm the ignorant one here..

Hey, Sarah is a conservative, I'm a conservative
Sarah is for 2A, I'm for the 2A
Sarah likes hunting and fishing, I like hunting and fishing..
I've been to Alaska, what a Great state!!!

Tell me all the great examples of Sarah's leadership and insight, where her real strengths are, and why she is head and shoulders above the rest as a political candidate..

This should be a slam dunk..
She has had plenty of speeches and interviews.
    She wrote a book.
She was a governor for more than half a term..
    She has been a mayor

And don't tell me about the military presence in Alaska.. You and I both know that the Governor has very little to nothing to do with the military and any decisions that are made in that arena.. That's all DOD stuff..
Don't tell me that she is better than any particular person present or past.. Let her stand on her own merits..
And don't give me the old.. "If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand routine".. If she is as good as you all assert and defend her to be, again, this should be a slam dunk..

Tell me about her challenges and how she approached them.
How she brought people of differing views together and made some real changes for the people..
How through her leadership, she was the catalyst that made the big difference!

OK.. It's your turn.. I seek the knowledge that you all have, that I am obviously missing..
    School me.. Please..

Sarah may not, probably not, be the most qualified as far as experience goes compared to some of the life long bureaucrats that are in Washington. She may be morally above most of them though and if she has not become a puppet for the NWO then best qualified or not she is head and shoulders above most of the traitors we have in Washington. IMHO.

OK, we're stepping back. From here you should see where - for openers - it's not about 'you'. I didn't call you rude, or offensive...I said your comments were. Your character, for what it's worth to you, remains intact in my view. While I don't want to drag this out any further into some protracted snore-fest, I will address your question.

I -DO- take offense when someone slams Sarah Palin, and I feel it's for good reason...

First, and maybe most important to me, is that I feel she's gotten a raw deal, reputation-wise, which is undeserved. This is a woman who made it to the highest post in the largest State and became a success in a very competitive arena. You'd think the National Organization of Women would be holding her up as their poster child! Instead she's been vilified and denigrated. Why?

    • Because she's a practicing Conservative, not a 'lockstep Liberal'
    • Because she chose to bear a child she knew was "imperfect" rather than allow herself to be used as an example for the Abortion crowd
    • Because she represents a woman who, running against the grain of Women's "issues", still managed to become a success in her field
    • She ran against the entrenched Government machine and not only won, but dismantled a lot of that machinery to the benefit of the State

You may not feel that the National Guard issue is relevant, but unless the Guard is activated and Federalized, its operation falls under the direct control of the office of the Governor. The Governor is "Commander in Chief" of the Guard - Army and Air - in each State.

Her high popularity rates, eventually effected by her sudden thrust into the National spotlight, were held by Republicans -AND- Democrats in that State. Also, I'm not sure that any...ANY!...other Governor can match her numbers in this regard. Please let me know if I'm wrong.

I feel (my opinion) that she exhibits more than adequate brains for the job of either Vice President -OR- President. Those things she lacks in terms of knowledge of world events can be learned or gleaned from advisors. You think Obama's enormous knowledge of National Economics (I'm jesting here) is from him alone? In fact, there's a school of thought that feels Obama is merely a puppet, whose strings are being pulled by people who are hell-bent on ruining...'scuse me..."reshaping" the country into a Socialistic one. Personally, I'm inclined to agree, from what I've seen.

    As for your comment:
I would hardly say she has a brain.. She more reminds me of the Scarecrow in Wizard of Oz (before they get to Oz).
How is one supposed to take that? Sounds pretty clear to me, however you choose to try to spin it.

There's plenty more, but you get the idea. I'm sure others have their opinion also. I'm done for now. I just feel the lady deserves more credit that she's been given and I, for one, would vote for her in a heartbeat. I'll take a genuine, sincere, honest person with common sense and a positive outlook over a conniving, manipulative . . . "politician"! . . . any day.

In the end the Truth will all come out. We'll see what happens to a country that tries to spend itself into prosperity. Think 1939 Germany. That's PRE-Hitler, kids. It's an economy like that which allowed a Hitler to take charge. What are we being set up for?

    Sorry...that's a different discussion...

    Default My 2 Cents Worth

Her thoughts and ideas are her own.

She stands up for what she believes in, right or wrong.

She is truly conservative. A plus in my book.

Oh BTW. She can prove she is an American citizen.
