Split the ticket?

Here's a decision we're all gonna have to make soon, if a conservative/libertarian 3rd party crops up in time for elections: Do we vote our principles, probably split the GOP ticket (which is what 3rd parties have historically done) and hand the country back to the Demonrats or do we campaign for the best candidates in the primaries, but then maybe have to hold our noses (again!) and vote for the GOP candidate we're not excited for.

I will admit that in a past post, I said I was gonna vote the "high ground" for a conservative 3rd party and screw the outcome. Now, I'm wussin' out, because I think that to leave the country in Demonrat hands will completely and utterly destroy it very rapidly. In the last year, the socialists have made VERY plain how they want to remake the USA in their vision and I'm having none of it.

I know the "progressive" movement is alive and well in the GOP, but there's that "lesser of 2 evils" thing...plus, maybe we can influence the candidate selection process sufficiently to make some serious inroads...and continue the fight...

For November, MOSTLY, we need to vote Republican. If you have a viable 3rd party candidate, tell the Republicans not to split your vote (Hoffman is what I am thinking of)
Going forward, after the Obama plan has been stopped, we need to vote our conscience. That might be taking over the Republican party or starting a 3rd, voting independent, etc.

Most importantly, we MUST stay involved and loud. We have it harder than the other side. We have families and jobs, we are busy **building** the society that they are leaching off of. It gets harder every year. They have the time and energy to create the noise that effects change because they just leach off of our efforts, rather than producing themselves.
They are teaching our children to be dependent, and that failing is a one time deal, no perserverance.

We have to get louder and more involved, and it sucks. We need to take over both the Republican and the Democratic parties. We need to take over the executive comittees. We need to take over the school boards. We need to take over the local governments as much as the Federal, if not more.

We need to fight.

I don't know JJF.... There is a bunch of talk off site of that same topic. Some people are going to the meeting/protests but going back to the two party just not to split the balance so bad. I was at a gathering last night and that was a topic that discussion. Out of the 35/40 people there.. the general consensus was to go back the the Conservative base and then hold officials accountable.

I think there's too many far left folks out and about today to deal with now, than to give the system of government a number of years to possibly flux and change to a viable 3+ party system. I hear a lot of people say that once these big government programs are in place, they are tough to roll back. And a lot of people want them, not knowing the long term consequences!

I've said it in previous posts: Perot helped Clinton win, Roosevelt helped Wilson win, and Clay helped Adams win. I think Carter was so bad that 2 independents could not have prevented a Reagan vistory!

No one is immune to corruption in politics, but I believe that the Republican party has a good chance of returning to being the party of conservatism.

I said it before; and I'll say it again.

In order for a 3rd party to become truely viable, they NEED to have a stronger presense at the local & state levels "before" trying for the Whitehouse. They also need to focus on getting established in the houses of congress.

Having a 3rd party pop up every 4yrs to run for the WH is strictly a "losing" proposition for EVERYBODY!

I said it before; and I'll say it again.

In order for a 3rd party to become truely viable, they NEED to have a stronger presense at the local & state levels "before" trying for the Whitehouse. They also need to focus on getting established in the houses of congress.

Having a 3rd party pop up every 4yrs to run for the WH is strictly a "losing" proposition for EVERYBODY!

The rules also have to be fixed to make it even for all parties. Here in PA, to get on the ballot a Dem or Rep only need 2,000 signatures...any 3rd party candidate needs 20,000!

Then there is also the issue of folks who don't vote 3rd because "a 3rd has no chance of winning"...if all those who said that actually voted for that 3rd then they would have a chance.

No longer will I "hold my nose" for a horrendous candidate just because he is the lesser of two evils. That is exactly the reason the Republicans keep putting up these milquetoast dingbats. They think they have to appeal more to the "moderates" at the cost of abandoning their base. Right now it does seem like the Republicans are starting to get it. They can either feed on this momentum and put up a truly exciting candidate who wants to reign in government, or they can piss it away and put up another RINO. From now on, I vote for the one who I believe is the best for the job.

I've voted third party for a while now.
Choosing between Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum ain't cutting it. My vote in my state is not lost because it leans so far in one direction. It is a protest vote and if enough people do it, the two major parties WILL notice.

in 2012 I'll vote the party if they can put up some REASONABLE candidate but that does not mean some buyoff "he was due" nod to some halfbutt Senator or Goveror as payback ... oh and it does not mean Sarah!

They will have to bring forth a valid candidate that is worthy of the vote. If they give us a turd that has the potential to do more harm than good or has the label RINO then no vote from me.

I think the message that was sent from the people of MA with the election of Scott Brown was: If you fail to listen to us, the voters, the people, the stake holders, be you Democrap, Republican, or Independent you will be removed.

The thought of another 4 years of the Liberal Socialist party (otherwise known as Democrap, or Demonrat as JJ was so kind to indicate) makes me ill. I'm sitting here thinking that was the shot (or Scott) heard across the USA. I'd like to hear more "reports" from across the US.

So now the time for change that Barack Obamanation has been speaking about, is upon us. We look to the Republican party or the Independent party to provide leadership worth backing. I hope you are reading this and will come to our aid with a viable choice.
