Judge Declares Prayer Unconstitutional - Here's What You Can Do
Last week, Barbara Crabb, a federal judge appointed by former president Jimmy Carter, declared that the National Day of Prayer is unconstitutional. Bizarrely, she said it is a violation of the First Amendment.
Yet the tradition of national days of prayer goes back to our very first congress and our first president. Just two days after members of Congress passed the First Amendment, they asked President George Washington to declare a national day of thanksgiving and prayer. In response to this request from Congress, President Washington, less than a week after passage of the First Amendment, issued just such a proclamation on October 3, 1789.
From a merely historical point of view, this makes it clear that it is preposterous to suggest that there is anything unconstitutional about a national day of prayer. Judge Crabb seems dangerously unaware of American history and the true meaning of the First Amendment, which was designed to protect freedom of religious expression, not stamp it out.
On Thursday, May 6, I invite you to participate in Meet At City Hall Meet At City Hall Main Page from 12:20 pm to 12:40 pm during the National Day Of Prayer. At thousands of city halls across the country, individuals will gather to pray for a moral rebirth in our country. The National Day of Prayer is an annual event established by an act of Congress which encourages Americans to pray for our nation, its people and its leaders.
Your participation in Meet At City Hall Meet At City Hall Main Page is very simple. Simply show up at your local city hall at 12:20 pm on Thursday, May 6. There will be others present. Spend the 20 minutes in prayer.
If you want to help promote Meet At City Hall Meet At City Hall Main Page, we suggest you invite members of your Sunday School class or church to join together and organize, as you desire. You can invite some public officials, local pastors, church choirs, etc. to participate. The amount of organization and promotion is entirely up to you. Let us unashamedly take our Light from underneath the basket and set it on a table.
Sincerely,
Tim Wildmon, President

P.S. Last week I encouraged you to watch "Secrets of the Mountain" on NBC. Last Friday night's family-friendly movie by Walmart and Procter & Gamble was the highest rated program on television that night! This high rating sends a strong message to television networks that quality, family programming is worth paying attention to!

You already have more than one. April 1st. to start with, then every day Congress or any of this Judge's court is in session. Our Constitution was intended to protect freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. For those who do not have enough sense to believe in God, stop trying to deny the rest of us the right!
Well said, Wild Bill, and right on the money. "Congress shall make NO Law..."!!

Another judge that either does not understand the constitution or simply does not care what the constitution says and has his own agenda. First of all the National day of Prayer never specifies a specific religion. It has been mostly evangelical Christians that observed the day but other more liberal Christians denominations as well as some Jews have used this day as a day of specific prayer. If the lib tards choose they may even neel and pray to their "anointed one" the great Obummer. Second the proclamation does not say anyone has to pray. If one chooses he may "not pray". So it should be obvious to all but the most uneducated whiners that there is no violation of first Amendment rights.
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house;by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith Heb.11:7
Agnostic theists identify themselves both as agnostics and as followers of particular religions, viewing agnosticism as a framework for thinking about the nature of belief and their relation to revealed truths.
Wouldn't "Agnostic Theism" be considered an oxymoron?

Nice try, though!
But they did, back when they established National Prayer Day. We are just now getting around to correcting that little mistake.![]()
No they didn't. The National Day of Prayer isn't a LAW that must be obeyed...it's an acknowledgement, like Father's Day. There is no LAW which says you MUST pray on this particular day. How you observe it...IF you observe it...is entirely up to you.
