Yeah, but that's just on the Immigration issue. While that's important to me, I don't feel it's #1. My priorities are so close that I can't actually put them in any order - I just tried. My #1 would look something like Strong Conservative Posture/2nd Amendment/Border Security/Tax Reform. Personally I couldn't care less about Universal Healthcare...I think it's a Socialist-concept trap. While I'm against the war (who the hell is for "war"?) I strongly support the troops and our commitment to our promises. This is going to be a hard choice, but I still feel, for me, it may end in Huck over Romney.

...if only Ron Paul wasn't so much of a loose cannon.

I asked myself the same question.. So I sent Mitt Romney an email and asked him his stand on the 2nd amendment. This is the answer I got: I thought it was a good answer. What does eveyone else think?

One of the most active fronts in the fight to preserve our Second Amendment rights today is being waged in the courts. As President, I’ll appoint strict constructionist judges who will follow the Constitution and not legislate from the bench. I’ll also fight to repeal the McCain-Feingold law, which sought to impose restrictions on the First Amendment rights of groups like the National Rifle Association, to advocate for issues we care about.

I think, more than being interested in his views on gun control, or his "support" of the Second Amendment, would be to try to pin him (or any of these political mannequins) down about what they plan and promise to DO about reinforcing and Guaranteeing our Rights under 2A should they be honored by being elected.

I am a staunch Conservative and a registered Republican. I am deeply interested in ensuring that the right Republican candidate for President gets my vote, both in the New Jersey primary as well as in the General Election.

Needless to say, my Constitutional Rights generally, and my Rights under the 2nd Amendment specifically, are very important to me.

I have listened and investigated and checked all the candidates for their stand in this regard. So far, all I have heard from anyone is that they “support” the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and defend the individual’s right to this freedom. I’d like to know more.

Could you please tell me, clearly and unequivocally and in plain language, what you plan to do about reinforcing and guaranteeing this very important Right?

For example, would you direct your Attorney General to declare that the 2nd Amendment is an Individual Right, and actively pursue those individuals and States that would enact rules and legislation which would deny that Right?

Would you make a Presidential declaration that supports the 2nd Amendment as is was intended and promote a National “Shall Issue” policy?

Perhaps there is some other, more insightful position that you have in mind which you could share. I would be most grateful to hear your response so that I can more easily defend among my peers my intention to vote for you.

I am a Life Member of both the National Rifle Association and the Gun Owners of America, a Veteran, a Mason, and a member of the American Legion. I am also an active participant of a variety of firearms-oriented message boards. There are at least dozens, if not hundreds, of brothers, members and friends who would enjoy hearing your answer to these questions.
