Veterans Disarmament Act is coming true

I made a few calls today, and I will NOT say that I have the last, absolutely correct word on this...... but

At this point in time. There has been no instruction to the VA re HR 2640. There also does NOT exist at this time any internal policy that I could find regarding PTSD and firearms. The only VA generated document I could find that mentions firearms and forms, is VA form 10-0435 which may be used (by policy) if a patient's history indicates potential issues with EITHER firearms OR driving. Response to the questions on this form is 100% VOLUNTARY. Here's a link to the form.

If you'll check the lower left corner of the form, you'll notice that the last modification to this form was December of 2005.

Thanks Jay. I didn't get any return calls today. I have several people trying to see if our SC VA has decided to read into the new law. According to HR 2640 that form shouldn't give them a reason to put someone on the list. In order to be placed on the list the Vet has to be adjudicated or been confined in a mental institution.

I have my doubts if "the list" even exists yet. There are some significant hoops to jump through before a "list" can be generated.

Red Hat, I've a few other inquiries in the works, and will let you know what shakes out here in Indiana. Consider this, I don't see anything happening at any one VA facility until the logistics are in place for it to happen VA-wide, and at this time nothing related to HR 2640 is happening at the VA I work at.

A little too late there Bohemian! It's already law. Read some of the info Jay found and what NRA said about this bill. I think there are some misinformed people at our State VA that are giving out erroneous info and that will be taken care of. The more I read the more I think people may have made more out of this than was necessary.

It was my understanding that although Congress has voted it in; it remained on the presidents desk to sign or veto...

Apparently George W. BUSH sold us out on the second amendment on January 8th, 2008 as did the NRA and he still needs to hear from us! as do our senators and representatives ! and the Media!
