Obama Admin to sue AZ over immigration law

NBC is reporting the Obama administration will sue Arizona over the immigration law. Maybe he's worried that AZ cops will arrest him for not having papers the next time he visits the Grand Canyon. I fully agree with Governor Brewer's sentiments in the last paragraph.

Justice Department officials say it's only a matter of when -- not if -- the federal government will sue Arizona over its new immigration law.

Justice Department lawyers have been working for weeks to draft their complaint, an effort that is not yet complete, officials say. Though the lawsuit will likely not be filed within the next several days, the government's goal is to go to court before the Arizona law takes effect in late July.

A comment earlier this month by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, which came to light late this week, has caused a stir. Asked about the Arizona law in a June 8 television interview in Ecuador, Clinton said: "President Obama has spoken out against the law because he thinks that the federal government should be determining immigration policy. And the Justice Department, under his direction, will be bringing a lawsuit against the act."


Though her statement contradicted the Obama administration's public line -- that the issue of a lawsuit was "under review " -- it accurately captured what officials say is the virtually certain outcome. Attorney General Eric Holder has repeatedly expressed concern about the law, and he recently met with a group of police chiefs who oppose it.

Nonetheless, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) said she was "stunned and angered" by Clinton's flat-out statement that a lawsuit is coming.

"If our own government intends to sue our state to prevent illegal immigration enforcement, the least it can do is inform us before it informs the citizens of another nation," she said in a statement from her office.

and one that the federal goverment wont enforce, the blm just put 3500 acres off limits to U.S. citizens because of drug cartel and human smuggling violence! and say it is not safe for public use. i guess obama is going to give that land to the illeagles!

Just one of many outrageous deeds by an out of control federal bureaucracy. If our founding fathers could see what has become of the Republic they fought for they would be appalled.

I'm glad that they can't see it, HK. I would be ashamed when they asked, "How did you let this happen?" IMO, every single citizen is responsible for the present condition of our nation. I DID NOT vote for Obama, but that doesn't exonerate me. In years past, while the stock market was soaring and the economy "appeared" to be so incredibly healthy, WE were lulled into a false sense of security...that this was the United States and it was infallible. So, we didn't post Watchmen at the Gate and we didn't keep a close eye on what our politicians were doing behind the scenes. The Progressives took advantage of our inattentiveness and made inroads into putting their plans into action.

Then 9/11 occurred and many of us were willing to give up some liberties in order to gain a sense of security. This resulted in the Patriot Act...innocent sounding isn't it? We WERE forewarned:

Let's not miss the under laying point here, we would not be having this conversation if the illegals were mostly Republican votes. The borders would already be shut down. The illegals should not be voting in the first place but they are and they are getting government bennies they should not be getting. Thank you Democrats and RINOS. The Democrats can not compete on a level playing field. If they could they would not be trying to shut down talk radio, the internet and the Tea Party movement. The main stream media is having a hard time pulling the wool over our eyes these days. Time for BIG GOVERNMENT to step in and help.

And what would be the purpose of this lawsuit? Voiding the law? Since when has disenfranchising voters become a desirable goal of the federal governent? Any member of the Congress, Judiciary, or Administration supporting this action should be impeached.

Right on mom! As a brother in Christ I also believe that God judges nations as well as individuals and America will not be judged well.

It is neither the far right nor the far left that's the problem, it's apathy. In the meantime, the Obama agenda to turn America into a socialist nation is right on track and progressing nicely (in his view). Once again us old farts must do the right thing because the kids are not. Get involved.
