Looks like it was Townsend who lied, well not really a "lie" but just regurgitation of internet vomit.
Townsend claimed that he "had read" that Schumer had a pistol permit. That was probably true, because there are a million blogs and forum posting in which people incorrectly claim Schumer has such a license.
To make things worse, Townsend's campaign managers said shortly after the debate that they would submit proof that Schumer had a handgun license. So far no such proof hs been submitted and they are probably frantically reading all the blogs and forum posts that make such a claim in an effort to find some actual credible source for such a claim.
In the meantime, Schumer's campaign submitted proof that he does not have a handgun license, which pretty much exposes the foolishness of relying on unsubstantiated internet claims.

Perhaps Townsend's campaign will come up with some evidence otherwise, but as of today it looks like Townsend owes the voters a correction on this one.
