I wonder how Ethical Dan Halloran is, mayhap we need to do a backround check on Him.
Councilmember Dan Halloran says those revisions are intended to give the police more power to deny licenses, which could counter a possible spike in gun ownership triggered by the lower fees.

Who the heck is Pete? Maybe he's the one who gets to judge "good moral character". Probably the same person who stated "define is".

Those are good restrictions - except they should be applied to qualification to hold elected office instead of qualification to own a gun.
I agree that there should be such strict requirements to hold political office, and not to own a firearm. NYC's handgun laws are a failure. The hoods and thugs run around shooting each other and innocent people are the collateral damage. Obviously these strict handgun laws have No effect on criminals obtaining, and carrying firearms. But the people that need them most, the honest citizen, are prevented from protecting themselves.
Perhaps you should actually READ the story.
Dan Halloran is a CONSERVATIVE LIBERTARIAN REPUBLICAN who is a LIFE NRA MEMBER and a FIRM 2nd Amendment Advocate. He is attacking the Bloomberg anti-gun agenda....

"Could this be any more vague and open ended?" Halloran asked. "Ask yourself, would any other constitutional right be subject to such vagaries? Imagine these requirements put to be eligible to vote, to have a lawyer, to be secure in your person or possessions, your right to a jury."
I read this article and it is another attemp by Bloomburg and his police cheif to keep NYers from owning guns.
