My intent was not to preach, just to highlight the contradiction with this "church's" (red: cult's) actions and the scriptures they claim to believe in. So it was not off topic, it was a direct refutation by authority (that they claim to recognize). It was establishing their hypocrisy. It's no different from me quoting from, say, state law to refute someone from that state who makes hypocritical claims about their state law.
