The "fear" tactics only work if YOU let them control your actions.

Unfortunately, the vast masses have been schooled from birth to depend on someone else to resolve their life's "problems" for them. Thus, the natural reaction to "fear" is "Unca Sammy, SAVE US from (fill in your favorite need/requirement for easy living here)!" At which time the Legislature is more than happy to pass a plethora of Laws/measures to placate your "worries". Making one less thing up to individual choice in so doing.

THAT is how you lose your freedom of choice. Incrimentally and virtually without notice.... all in the name of "security".

Worse, you will NEVER find a "Leader" in the Government who will dissuade the masses from their preferred path of least resistance to resolution of "troubles". It would cut into their level of "control".

Quite a rant but I think I know where you're coming from. For some time now my family and I have commented to the outright terrible lessons that are being taught to the young impressionable minds that are "baby sat" by the magic glowing tube (from my Dad's era). Unfortunately, unless the parents of the kiddies take the time to explain the good and bad of what they see on the tube, they don't stand much of a chance.

The same goes for the movies and music.

I used to listen to Beck when ever I could because I thought he had a good message. I even watched him on Fox when I could. But as of late he has become one of the biggest fear mongers on the radio, Some might believe in all that he has to say and to each his own, But I listened this morning and the first half of the show was a pimp for his new net TV show and a push for his gold sponsor.

Calling your elected official about the crud you see on the tube will only result in more laws taking away more liberty and freedom. Calling the product manufacturer and telling them the advertisement teach the wrong ideals and you refuse to buy their product might be a good idea. While it will give you a great deal of satisfaction, unless a whole lot of people call in and complain, I don't see them changing the adds as long as they think they are making money from it. But I do vote with my dollar. I have already bypassed one product for another just because of the advertisement negative message.

And there really are some products on the market who's side effects just scare the daylights out of ya and you got to wonder if the positive is worth the possible negatives. But they are still on the market!

I'm usually an active person but a few months ago I fell down my stairs and hurt myself. I've been in bed mostly and subject to the Net and the TV. Not being used to spending this much down-time I guess I am more receptive to the crap that's out there. I would like to again point out that sarcasm has no place for an intelligent debate Charlie but I'm glad that you read my "rant" and made comment anyway. As far as “cleaning it up” You gotta be kidding me. First of all this is an adult site unless there’s a state out there that issues ccps to children and more importantly I couldn’t possibly come close to matching the foul, violent, sexual and untruthful things that the TV spews from minute to minute every day. Advertisements selling men’s products have to show women or a woman in her skivvies to sell powder or cream. That’s dirty that’s a form of mild porn. So Charlie please don’t lecture me, especially ignorantly, about cleaning up my act.
1. Mr. nogods I mostly quoted a TV program about Google. It was about how huge a data base they have and how it is used and BTW I use Firefox. Google may not expect $ for their services but “Everything has a price whether it’s $, physical, spiritual or emotional-you’re gonna pay. Pay up front and you may get “bennys” pay during (like most) and squeak by pay later (like I see with Google) and a lot of “interest” is tacked on.
