Oh, so ironic!! The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture,
is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever.
Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks
us to "please do not feed the animals" because the animals may grow dependent
and not learn to take care of themselves.

Don't even get me started. A couple years ago I really needed some assistance. My husband and I both lost our jobs a few months apart and were swimming in debt. We were making the choice between the grocery store and the power bill. But because I didn't squeeze out half a dozen kids, our "income" from his unemployment put us over the guidelines. Never mind that we were paying our bills and mortgage. Meanwhile, some crackhead across town with a whole litter has her rent paid, her bills paid, and gets $1200 a month to spend on candy bars and sodas. Awesome.
