The deficit

Why is it that the "spend-crazy liberals" are to blame for the massive deficit? Of the last five Presidents including Obama, hasn't the deficit been massively increased by every one of them except for Clinton? I'm just curious because it seems like the blame is being pointed at the opposite side by those on the left and the right, while ultimately it seems like both sides are doing a pretty good job of driving the economy in to the ground.

What gets me is that this is such a huge issue for the country but both sides are still going to spend millions and millions to fund their election campaigns. Add to that the billions being spent by all kinds of special interest groups and I can't help but think that everybody is so wrapped up in the bipartisan politics that none of the people involved are really paying attention to the problem because they are too busy contributing to it while still engaging in wild finger pointing.

Neither is good. Everything the government spends is necessary according to the party in power and wasteful according to the party out of power. then the party out of power gets in power and does the same thing to fix the problem caused when the other party was in power.

But why give the money to either one? If you put that million in to a school and 1 kid ends up being the next Bill Gates instead of another welfare recipient, that would probably be the best return for everyone. But it seems like what is actually happening is that the left wing gets to put a million in to welfare in return for the right wing putting a million in to corporate business, and so 2 million ends up being wasted.
