Default UN Arms Treaty Falls Apart

When you read the reason it started to fall apart it becomes abundantly clear that it may not have been for the reasons we wished, that America would be against it.

When the US asked for an extension, things started to go south and then there became other reasons on top of the the extension request but we started it.

The US did not want to sign this treaty before the election because that would cinch the failure of the incumbant.

Hide and watch. They will spin this to their advantage and tell us that they were watching out for the good of the second amendment.

BS! They were trying to save the election and will vote in favor of it the next time it comes up.

I was very concerned about the UN Arms Treaty as well so I emailed my concerns to the two Michigan US senators and actually heard back from them. They both vowed that if the 'Treaty' was to violate the 2nd Amendment that they would not support it. Might be lip service but I will hold them to task about it.

this is far from over. the article i read said that they are going to reintroduce it at a later point, which is the point you are making. this is just part of obama's plan that he will be more flexible after he is re-elected. now with scj scalia saying that there is room for interpretation on the 2nd amendment (chris wallaces show), there should be much concern.

i watch a lot of fox news and get the feeling that they are skewing the polls that they quote just as badly as the other networks skew in obama's favor. i am really worried about this election. if it goes to the liberals this nation will under go a transformation that hasn't been seen in our history. i am not sure that we as a nation can survive the debt,

Aside from the politicians looking for cover on this treaty, I heard something about Russia and China pulling back on signing because there are prohibitions on selling ammunition to "belligerents." And who else do they have to sell their stuff to? If we had signed this pile of garbage, would that mean Obama couldn't send more equipment to "freedom fighters" in the middle east?

None of the Big countries are going to sign this abortion. All of the more powerful nations make too much money off the arms trade to allow this to pass. The U.S., Russia, China, and even some of the EU make way too much profit off international gun sales to go along with the treaty. The whole treaty is an exercise in futility.

I haven't voted for an incumbent in years. Seems like I've been throwing my vote away though. What needs to happen is for everyone to change their affiliate to Independent as well as vote the bums out. The two other parties won't change until they see a mass exit of registered voters. Hey, it's worth a try. Nothing else seems to work.

The only problem with this idea is that it's too late for most of the country to implement it. The time was during the primaries to throw out incumbent Congress-critters. Right now I have a choice between the incumbent Republican Representative who was swept in in the '10 Tea Party freshman class, or an idiot Democrat with zero public service record. The Tea Party affiliated Republican turned out to be just another RINO. Voted to raise the debt limit all three times it came up, voted for HR 347, voted for NDAA, and has never once returned a call, email or letter that I've sent him asking for position statements on issues coming up for a vote. Both of my Senators are Republicans who, up until this term, I would've said were reliable conservatives. But they too have voted to raise the debt limit, voted for HR 347 and NDAA and a bunch of other bureaucratic crap that will eventually contribute to the downfall of this country.

Do you guys suggest that I, or other people in a similar circumstance, vote for the Democrat opponents of these betrayers? I doubt you do. Too late to vote the incumbents out. My state had their chance during the primaries, and just like every other state, we blew it.
