So, another popular and spontaneous democratic uprising is crushed by the fascists in power. How is it possible that such an overwhelming majority can be ignored by the government?
"The people are enraged, but they could not do anything because they're facing guns," said a 68-year-old teacher. "I think the protests are over because there is no hope pressing them."

Governments that disarm the populace can rule with impunity and crush popular dissent. Let's stop the HR 1022 assault weapons ban before it becomes law. I never want to see something like this happen my my country.
First they will have to remove the guns from the people, such as Canada, UK,
and others. Then they can put down the freedom movement.
Nuke'em til they glow then shoot them in the dark!
I have to agree with Ray. Once (hopefully never) they can take our means of protecing ourselves away, they will do whatever they want.

Extreme Left.......................................<Modera te>.........................................Extrem e Right
Communist................. Socialist................................. Nationalist/Conservative............. Facist
This appears more on a line but the in actuality should arc towards a circle and where they meet you wil find National Socialist's or Nazi's

doublenutz, I see your point, maybe the military junta in Burma isn't fascist in the strictest political sense. Maybe 'totalitarian' was the correct word here.

How is fascism considered "extreme right?" One necessary part of fascism is the confiscation of arms of the people. That seems very leftist to me.
Well, fascism usually entails extreme versions of right-wing ideology, such as xenophobia, militarism and the trampling of civil rights. The communists' first enemy was fascism, and vice versa. Remember hitler burning the reichstag and blaming it on the communists? Also the spanish civil war was between socialists and the fascists.
Ultimately, pat phrases like 'right-wing' and 'left-wing' aren't sufficient to contain the spectrum of politcal thought that have been ascribed to them throughout history. The idea that Hillary Clinton is a socialist is endlessly amusing to the Green party, for example, who consider her a die-hard Capitalist (which she is, as are all mainstream American political candidates).
