I am sorry but I don't know how any true Christian that has been washed in the blood of Christ, whose sins have been forgiven and reads and know scripture could vote of him

An evangelical public relations expert believes Barack Obama could potentially win a significant chunk of the evangelical Christian vote in November. A recent Rasmussen poll showed the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee currently drawing the support of 32 percent of voters who classify themselves as evangelicals.





Mark DeMoss is a former Mitt Romney adviser and president of The DeMoss Group, a public relations firm that works with evangelical groups. He says he would not be surprised if Senator Obama garnered as much as 40 percent of the evangelical vote in November, given that Bill Clinton received a third of the evangelical vote when he won reelection in 1996.

"The appeal that Barack Obama had apparently to millions of new voters and people from basically every segment of society who were attracted to his campaign for one reason or another, I would say evangelicals have not been exempted from that," he points out. Obama's outreach to younger evangelicals, tentatively called "Joshua Generation," includes a thousand house partices and dozens of Christian rock concerts.

He also notes that reports indicate many evangelicals are concerned about the environment, poverty, and criminal justice reform – issues that have not been front-burner issues, historically speaking, for that voting bloc.

But Demoss says he did not mention the 40 percent statistic to show his affinity for Barack Obama, rather to warn the McCain campaign not to take evangelicals for granted.

All I'm wondering is why isn't McCain jumping all over this? Barack Obama's sprint to the center couldn't be more obvious and McCain needs to exploit that.

Unfortunately Obama has a very good chance of winning in November, especially depending on his VP pick. McCain should have taken the same road and accept private donations instead of staying with the standard campaign. This would have given him more for ads and rebuttals. Now he has to wait and pick his battles.

Most people vote on the real issues. Like the economy and the war in Iraq. Not moral issues which nothing will be done about. I thought everybody learned that on the first go around with George W. He has been in there for 8 years and nothing has been done. Just had a law passed to make it legal for same sex marriage in callifornia with which i may add has a republican gov. and what have they done. It's great that they are against it but it still happens anyway. It's up to the state People. come on.

Yep, when it comes right down to a lot of issues Republicans may talk the talk but but often are not much better the the Demoncrats when it comes to walking the walk.

Discussing the religion of politicians, or their party afiliation, is a waste of time since they have no morals to base any belief system on. The only thing a modern politician seeks is power and self-aggrandizement. What you have touched on in your post, jwtollett21, is the importance of judicial appointments.

The people of California voted to make marriage between a man and a woman, the courts struck that down and and allowed gay marriage. Courts should not have the power to legislate. As for 8 wasted years, you can be pretty certain things would be very different had the other party had control. Probably not worse overall, certainly not appreciably better, but quite different. One place I'm sure things would have been much worse is judicial appointment. Democrats (and this might be changing at the grass roots level) tend to favor interpreting the Constitution and its history to reflect the current wishes. Republicans (unfortunately, fewer every year) tend to favor an 'as written' view of the Constitution and would need amendments to affect change. While I will never defend any Republican or Democrat politician, I'm pretty sure the Bush appointees are overall superior to those we'd have gotten under any of the available Democrats.
