Nobody believed me when I first posted in the immediate aftermath of the Heller decision saying that D.C. would continue to have America's worst gun laws, and as this action by the D.C. council shows, I was right. Yes, the ruling was a victory (sort of) for law abiding D.C. residents, but I still don't see myself moving there voluntarily any time in the near (or distant, for that matter) future.
I, for one, totally believed they'd kick, scream, drag their feet and do everything they could to avoid complying. What I'm looking forward to is a major smackdown on DC by the courts charged with enforcing the decision. Maybe, if DC plays their cards right, we can have incorporation, removal of buying out of state restrictions, and right to carry all defined before other cases can even be heard.
