Germany has a cultural thing about looking for strong, centrally controlling leaders who are charismatic and well-spoken but very confident of themselves. First it was the Kaisers, then it was Hitler. That's what they see in Obama, even though he hides behind a facade of kumbayya.

Come to think of it...maybe the Germans know this guy better than we do, actually.
