The one similarity that does strike me is the way Obama seems to draw crowds and how they seem to be enthralled with him. The one German citizen leaving after the speech that made the statement "He is my new Messiah" is really scary. Germany thought the same of Hitler.

Germany has a cultural thing about looking for strong, centrally controlling leaders who are charismatic and well-spoken but very confident of themselves. First it was the Kaisers, then it was Hitler. That's what they see in Obama, even though he hides behind a facade of kumbayya.

Come to think of it...maybe the Germans know this guy better than we do, actually.
