The main problem at this point is that in spite of McCain's protests, BOTH parties actually want "massive government, millions in spending, and wasteful pork". Every time Bush tried to lower the budget costs, the Dems screamed "DEVASTATING BUDGET CUTS!!!!", and I haven't seen any thing out of the McCain camp about cutting anything out of the budget. We've spent decades getting the old, infirm, and poorer people in this country absolutely ADDICTED to government money. If anyone tries to take that away now, they will lose. We're in a pretty sad situation at this point, and we can't tax our way out of it.
"Property is the fruit of labor...property is desirable...is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built."
-Abraham Lincoln, March 21, 1864
