That's interesting reading. It's interesting in that the AMA would advocate a position purportedly embracing the welfare and safety of children while (some might say) slapping the Hypocratic Oath in the face by tolerating the membership of those who perform abortions. Personally - and no political comment is intended here, just an intellectual observation - I'm fascinated by the mentality that can decry the loss of life in the Iraqi war while turning a blind eye to . . . nay, even enthusiastically encouraging . . . the several millions of abortions that have been performed since Roe v Wade became law. It's OK to perform an abortion on an innocent fetus because the parent(s) might be inconvenienced by an unplanned birth, but it's inhumane to put someone like Geoffrey Dahmer to death.
I know these arguments have been made before and I'm not breaking any new ground, particularly, but it's posts like the AMA Policy that bring it home again to me. Sorry for the soapbox.
