The wordings of the current oath of enlistment and oath for commissioned officers are as follows:
"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).
"I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God." (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.)

Man up and take a stand. It's not just about 2A anymore. We need to be active and heard in every facet of government. The Liberals have used the squeaky wheel syndrome to push a lot of their crap through the system and it worked. It is time for us to do the same. Make some noise about our agendas and when we don't get our way we make even more noise until they shut us up by enacting legislation favorable to us.

If we don't stand up now, what will the United States become?
Read the Declaration of Independence. One of the most important "declarations" there says:
That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
Now, this tells me that if our govenrment ceases to be "of, by and for the people," we have the right, authority and obligation to change it. And as a lot of government officials also take an oath (Obama will at his inauguration) to defend the Constitution, and obviously do not take that oath seriously, it is the people who will eventually need to make this country succeed. And survive. Time for a new patriotism, gentlemen!

Well to you Sir I say this --- I am sorry for my comment several weeks ago about you being one beer short of a six pack and that you should go to the VA.. I am a 27 year Navy Vet ( Hospital Corpsman) married to a 10 year Navy vet who is British (she is now a U.S.) She took the same oath and feels the same way you do. Heck Canis I am sure by the Marxist, socialistic, one world order elitist way of thinking just about all of us patriotic, freedom loving, gun toting Americans which I dare say most of use on this site are, would be unbalanced. So in that regard I guess we are all in good company.
