The founding fathers knew all of this could happen. That's why we have the second amendment and this wordage in the declaration of independence....

"That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

The problem is that the people don't have the will to fight anymore. People these days are dependent on the government and WAY too many trust that the government is there to help them.
