Souter was one of the most Leftist justices, so it's a foregone conclusion that the replacement from The Obamanation will be at least as Leftist, so doubtful it'll shift the high court at all.

Let's just hope none of the conservative judges call it quits during Obama's presidency. It could turn things very negatively if one does.
I hope whomever they nominate the Republicans rake them over the coals line the Dem's did on every Conservative nomination.

From what I understand, the mantra of SCOTUS judges is "don't die or retire til your party is in power" let's hope that stays true!

here is a little news flash for those that have not been paying attention, to the significance of Souter's decision to retire now...
during the primary season, it was estimate by experts that the next president would be appointing 2-3 Supreme Court Justices in the next 4-8 years...
SOUTER was not one of those expected to be replaced in this time frame...
Yes SOUTER has done the 2nd Amendment no favors...
Although it still means the replacement of SOUTER is a significant step towards changing the 5-4 conservative balance in the SCOTUS...
it is critical, that we pay attention to whom the nominees are and contact our Senators with our approval or disapproval...
If we do, we may just end up with someone at least slightly to the right of SOUTER, GINSBURG etc... which is the best we can hope for from the Usurper Obama Administration...
At least until the "Sword of Justice" finds the Usurper Obama and those at the top responsible for his Unconstitutional, Treasonous Usurpation; beginning with Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Harry Reid (D-NV).
