I cannot understand why Doc and his Glock thinks it's so bad OCing around the president. Even the police recognized his rights and did nothing. Even the Secret Service was unimpressed. I think it's great that several people were carrying in that crowd, and were well-behaved and civilized.

And as most of you saw in the "news" and found out about later, the "angry white guy with a gun" was actually black. The media purposely edited out the man's race and only showed his waist and the TWO guns (he also had a pistol on his hip).

Doc, I think you should stay home and stick to your keyboard, while the real patriots show up at these rallies dusplaying the rights we have under the Constitution. I have been to several tea parties and other rallies, and have carried concealed to all of them. As Thomas Paine said:

I am Also about 75% service connected disabled...
So please don't use that as your crutch for besmirching Patriots whom are still willing to stand up for what they believe in...

Attending rallies is one small part of the on-going responsibility to support the Constitution & Second Amendment as they were written and intended by our founding fathers...

If you are able to sit, stand, you should be attending any rally you possibly can, and encouraging any that are exercising their pre-existing, fundamental rights, reaffirmed by the constitution, to continue to do so; praise them, not belittle and chastise them...

If you do not have the stones to open carry, while its still legal; then you are not likely to stand up for your rights when they come knocking on your door stating were here for your guns Mr./Mrs. Registered Firearm Owner and or Concealed Carry Permit Holder... You are on our list... as a potential right wing extremist...
Or they drag your brother or neighbor off in chains because he openly/concealed carried a firearm or other weapons near some employee of "WE THE PEOPLE"...

The reason why we have the Socialist-in-Chief and company in the White house is because the liberals on the left put their money and their actions where their mouth is...
they were Proactive about what they believed in...
They did just what the Usurper, Acorn, et.al. told them to do "I Want You To Get In Peoples Faces"...

While most of the Conservatives sat at home and bitched and complained about it, whined like little girly men/women; but did little or nothing to thwart it; or belittled those that did as being too outspoken, too aggressive, asking for trouble, etc...

Apparently, too many people have forgotten things like Jefferson always carrying, open and concealed... and that it was every American's duty to at all times be armed and trained at as early an age as possible to use said armament...
Or more recently George W. Bush's (CCW Holder Himself) comments, ... and I'd like to thank Senator Jim Webb for providing security tonight...

Mea culpa, Doc. I apologize and retract my statement (about you being a patriot, that is). I still think that this demonstration was vital to showing the media especially that we are displaying our Constitutional rights, and that the Secret Service and leos themselves respected that by leaving them alone.

And the color of the guy in the news has nothing to do with the OC issue - the liberal media painted him "white" and said that "crazy white guys with guns" were there. The fact that he was black proves that the media is still trying to start something by omitting the truth. Where, oh, where are you JAneAnn Garofolo?

And I would give most of them a little more credit than to think someone could come along and take a weapon away from them. Had I been one of that crowd, I would have been very situationally aware of everything happening around me. I do that now when I carry concealed - I would be even more careful if OC'ing.

You have served your country admirably. I was in the USAF from '64 to '68 and didn't get to 'Nam although my brother and several of my friends did. Some of their names are on the Wall. And I think that we have to show up in force at every rally, tea party and march we possibly can. Until we start showing this government that we are the MAJORITY, they are going t okeep laughing at us and calling us radicals and nut-cases. Personally, I don't think they'll be doing that much longer. The tide is turning.

Well said Marine... and no I was not using my disability as a crutch.. as a retired Fleet Marine Hospital Corpsman I open carry when ever I can but there are some places I will not carry at, one is when the President is there.. sorry but I still respect that position.. the President is the President..

Whatever differences exist, thanks to both of you for your service and sacrifices.

I see nothing disrespectful in carrying near the President. He has several people around him who do so on a daily basis, he visits different cities regularly resulting in "strangers" with guns nearby, he has visited our troops with automatic weapons and explosives all around without any disrespect being offered. He often visits other countries where armed men and women are in close proximity as a sign of respect of the host nation.

Presidents in our past have gone on hunting trips in groups of constituents (Vice-Presidents too - ) and I see nothing disrespectful with going to meet my senator, congressman, mayor, boss, preacher or mother-in-law while carrying a firearm open or concealed, so why is the President any different (to me)?

A few weeks ago, I sent Mr. Obama an invitation to join me for a day of shooting at a government-owned range here in Idaho. I was completely serious in my offer to spend a few hours just plinking and chatting with real constituents who might not have voted for him and would like to ask some questions about the direction he is taking. In no way does my invitation involve any disrespect for him, his family or the subordinate position he holds for the next few years.
