Having lived through the Vietnam War protests and the rest of the sick, sick '60s, I can say without hesitation that we're more divided now.
When I first learned of this Obama-worship in the school in Burlington, I was suspicious that it was some sort of hoax. But apparently not. I used to umpire in Burlington. It's a blue-collar, flag-flying place, not (like Princeton, where I used to live) full of liberal academics or politically correct fascists. I can't imagine that this "lesson" went over very well there.
Remember that Obama was elected because people were mad at the Republicans, not because the country wanted to lurch to the left. I think America is in the process of self-correcting, and things like this school outrage will accelerate the correction.
Bama Boy, I also think (and fervently hope) that a "self-correction" seems to be happening. I wish it was September of 2010, tho. However, utlimately the left seems poised to prevail as their base is expanding, while the "traditional" American base is contracting (note birth rates of various societal groups). Quite easy to sound racist, here, and that's not my intent, but certain minorities and other supposedly disadvantaged groups (too numerous to mention) are ever-growing, and they seem to overwhelmingly vote liberal Democrat.
Personally, I don't care if a person is orange with purple stripes as long as we all share the same basic values. I feel less and less that this is the case.
Too many people want the government to not only make their lives better but to GIVE them stuff (easy mortgages, free health care, money, etc.). I basically just want to be left alone with minimal governmental interference in my life; a government that adheres to the Constitution. I feel that I am in the minority, however. I hope you're right, brother.
For the record, I have not been real fond of the GOP in recent years, either, so I'm not sure where that leaves me politically. I keep voting GOP so as not to throw away my vote on a third party candidate, but one politician is as corrupt as the next, regardless of party. If only we could throw them ALL out...
Didn't mean to ramble on here but this kind of crap (singing praises to B. Hussein) does get my dander up, that's for sure.
If i was a parent....my child would be out of the school in a half day. I never sang about a president when I was a child. People complain they say "god" in school yet they can get away with this?

I just received this and want to pass it on, our school kids may be getting a day off if Obama supports this Muslim Day of Prayer, or will he have them stay in school and join in.
Maybe aother TV blitz and he will lead them in Muslim prayer.
September 24, 2009
Dear Chuck,
The Islamic community hopes to have 50,000 Muslims surrounding
the U.S. Capitol for Jummah prayer this Friday, September 25.
While all people are of course free in America to pray according
to the dictates of their own conscience, a look at the leaders of this
prayer event raises serious questions about whether this event is good for
America.
The main organizer of the event, Hassen Ibn Abdellah, was,
according to the New York Times, the "most aggressively combative of the
lawyers" representing the terrorists who staged the 1993 World Trade Center
bombing. His client was convicted of manufacturing and transporting the bomb
and is now in the "Supermax" prison at Florence, Colorado.
In 2004, he tried to get Numan Maflahi off the hook. Maflahi is
a New Jersey Muslim who was sentenced to five years in prison for his part
in terrorism financing schemes centered in Brooklyn.
In 2007, Abdellah came to the defense of Mahmud Faruq Brent, a
Baltimore cabdriver who pled guilty to attending a jihad terrorist training
camp in Pakistan, and who, under Abdellah's instructions, refused to
cooperate with authorities or testify against other defendants.
The imam who will lead the recitation of the Koran, Sheikh Ahmed
Dewidar, is a Manhattan cleric who once said that "through the domination of
Islam and its ideas, the White House will change," and spoke approvingly of
another cleric who said that one day "the White House will become...the
Muslim House."
He has also claimed that Zionists "control the government, the
politics, the economy, and the media in the U.S."
In other words, this Islamic prayer event is being led by men
who harbor both anti-Semitic and fundamentally anti-America views.
President Barack Obama has barely acknowledged the Christian
heritage of the United States, refusing to participate in the National Day
of Prayer and issuing only a perfunctory proclamation which he was required
to do by law. Yet he has hosted a dinner celebrating what he called "the
Holy Month of Ramadan" in the White House, and recently issued a
proclamation at the end of Ramadan which concluded with an Arabic blessing.
Will he support the Muslim Day of Prayer?

(In the following, I am talking about the guy you sit next to in the movie theater, not politicians)
There is much truth in what you have said, but it would not be difficult to change. Liberals and Conservatives agree 85-90%. When you ask a lib or cons. about healthcare, and you boil it down to its simplest form, the goal is exactly the same, to deliver the best quality healthcare tothe greatest number of people at the lowest cost. When you look at it from that perspective, we are not arguing about the goal, we are arguing about how best to acheive the goal. You can go down the list of issues and find similar responses for just about everything (with the exception of where a person has a serious emotional investment in an issue, such as an anti-gunner who lost their child to gun violence (worst thing imaginable), there is little or nothing that can be done there).
The division we are facing is being manufactured, I believe intentionally. The press is either the motivator, or complicit, and has been for as long as I can remember. Elected officials use it (create it) to create FUD so they can get re-elected. There is no better way to control a person than through fear and hatred. The powers that be are manufacturing this, we are falling for it, and they are trying to manipulate it to their advantage.
I think they are truly suprised at the response of the people (as the powers that be are rooted in Chicago politics and used to the masses just rolling over) and the resistance to what they are trying to do. I believe if we keep up the pressure, we can get through this.
Of course, keep your powder dry, and shoot the bastards if they show up to take you to a relocation camp!!! And be ready for civil unrest 3 months of food and ammo would be a good start.
You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once.

I'd have to agree with your dad-in-law. I don't foresee so much of a 'civil war' as a socialist gov't quashing an annoying 'civil uprising by known domestic terrorists and extremists.' (All the folks who refuse to hail bHo.)
The media is spoon-fed and would lap that up - believing only what the lying Kenyan's czars tell them. Too many 'average citizens' are already brain-dead and believe everything the spoon-fed media reports, and too many of these brain-dead zombies WANT this socialist gov't thinking for them. So, that leaves us - the "free" citizen with a working knowledge and appreciation for the constitution as the objects of such an administration's wrath.
We'll see in 2010 where this nation is on the timeline. I'm hoping Americans wake up and correct a lot of this socialist BS at the polls, but I'm not at all confident in any republican candidate either... so we'll see.
One thing is for certain: America has never had anyone like bHo at the helm before - and Americans put him there. Scary stuff.

You guys ever heard of "Oath Keepers"? Google 'em. An organization of military and LEO who list 10 orders they will not follow, based on putting down their fellow Americans. Let me know what you think.
