The 111th Congress has NOT been in place since 2006. Heck, the Senate of the 111th Congress now has 17 senators who weren't even in the chamber 1 year ago: Mark Begich (D-AK), Mark Udall (D-CO), Michael Bennett (D-CO), Edward Kaufman (D-DE), George LeMieux (R-FL), James Risch (R-ID), Roland Burris (D-IL), Paul Kirk (D-PRMA), Al Franken (D-MN), Mike Johanns (R-NE), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Tom Udall (D-NM), Kirsten Gillebrand (D-NY), Kay Hagan (D-NC), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Bernard Sanders (i-VT), Mark Warner (D-VA). I don't know what the number is for the House, but you get the idea.

As for the push for health care reform, remember that when the Democrats seized control of Congress in 2006, there was still a Republican in the White House who had the power to veto any legislation coming out of there. It wouldn't have mattered if the Democrat in the White House was Obama or someone else, because now everything that the Democrats need (both houses of Congress (including a filibuster proof majority in the Senate) and the White House under Democratic control) to pass pretty much whatever they want is now in place.

I should have correctly said that congress has been controlled by democrats since 2006. The names don't really matter.

Well, we agree on the "crooks" part of your post; no argument there. As for the rest, providing for the national defense is a valid function of the federal government, which I don't mind paying for. As for the rest, are you suggesting that we should all just lay down and let the government do whatever it wants. Cause that's not gonna work for me...

But i also don't mind paying for health insurance. It may or may not be a valid funtion of the government but its still a good thing. If the insurance company's didn't jack everybody's rate up every year, make them take a higher deductible, cancell for no reason or not pay their claims the government wouldn't even have to get involved. Health insurance has been around for 100 years and it still hasn't worked. Maybe its time for a little government regulation and intervention.

It's already been said but tort reform is the answer... allow competition in the health insurance industry and prices will level off. Socialists (democrats) like big government. We see how well the government has handled social programs like SS, Medicaid, etc.. They are all bankrupt or on the verge of it. Even the USPS is struggling. Everything the government gets involved in tends to "grenade". Most here will agree that we need less government, not more!

Handouts are for people who can't take care of themselves, not folks who are able to work! Get a job! And if you don't make enough, get a grant and further your education!!

Here's a novel idea; CHANGE that we could get behind... Obama & Company need to pass some legislation that mandates they can not spend money they do not have in hand; and they can not pass a budget or any other initiative that cannot be paid in full in the current fiscal year...

Most States, like Arkansas for example have such mandates; YOU CAN'T SPEND MONEY YOU DO NOT HAVE! PERIOD!

i am against any illegals in the country period. I actually think we got enough legal immigrants to due us until eternity also. Nothing predjudice or anything we are just going to be so over populated in the future i don't know what we will do. The illegals are raping our health care system, causing alot of crime, and cheating the whole system as a whole. We can't afford it.
