Obama goes around the world telling all what a terrible country the US is. Why would the world want to come here. I also heard that some of his cronies recently bought up some slum property in hopes the buildings would be torn down to build the olympic village allowing them to rack in big bucks. I will not even talk about the high crime rate in a city that does not allow hand gun ownership. I for one am glad he failed and hope to see more failure.

I think it's more about the city with it's crooked politicians & it's out of control crime that is important here.

I know gun people don't like BHo but i think the decision made by the IOC had nothing to do with the man & everything to do with the recent senseless killing of innocent children on there way to or from school.

I'm sure some of the crooked Illinois politicians who have made the news during the last year didn't help either.

I know I live 10 hours from Chicago & I wouldn't go to the Olympics there if some one gave me free tickets & a place to sleep while there.

Rio on the other hand sounds like fun. I have not much interest in the olympic games But Rio during Carnival would be a blast. Wish i could afford to go.

I don't know. I think Rio has a higher murder rate than Chicago I think it was due in part because the IOC and the world in general has a contempt for America. OF course it does not help when you have a President going around the world apologizing for America and a first lady that says when Obama got the nomination it was the first time she was proud to be an America. I got news for her. There is no ball and chain keeping her and the messiah here.

I believe some city's never make any money from the Olympics.
I think Chicago spent around 70 million just trying to get the olympics to come there.

I think it is noteworthy to repeat the point Sean Hannity made the other day: is it any wonder the IOC voted against having the Games in America when, ever since he began running for office, Obama has said nothing but negative things about America on his world-wide, apologize-for-America tour!

Obama’s Olympic failure will only add to doubts about his presidency

Barack Obama fails to make the case for Chicago to the IOC in Copenhagen
There has been a growing narrative taking hold about Barack Obama’s presidency in recent weeks: that he is loved by many, but feared by none; that he is full of lofty vision, but is actually achieving nothing with his grandiloquence.

Chicago’s dismal showing yesterday, after Mr Obama’s personal, impassioned last-minute pitch, is a stunning humiliation for this President. It cannot be emphasised enough how this will feed the perception that on the world stage he looks good — but carries no heft.

It was only the Olympic Games, the White House will argue — not a high-stakes diplomatic gamble with North Korea. It is always worthwhile when Mr Obama sells America to the rest of the world, David Axelrod, his chief political adviser, said today. But that argument will fall on deaf ears in the US. Americans want their presidents to be winners.

Mr Obama was greeted — as usual — like a rock star by the IOC delegates in Copenhagen — then humiliated by them. Perception is reality. A narrow defeat for Chicago would have been acceptable — but the sheer scale of the defeat was a bombshell, and is a major blow for Mr Obama at a time when questions are being asked about his style of governance.

At home, it is difficult to turn on a television and not see Mr Obama giving a press conference, or an interview, or at a town hall rally, in his all-out effort to sell his troubled reform the US health insurance system. After three months of enormous exposure, Mr Obama has achieved this: the growing likelihood of ramming a Bill through Congress with — at most — just one Republican vote.

Abroad, Mr Obama promised in his Inauguration address to engage America’s enemies, and he has done just that. He has very little to show for it. Yes, Iran took part in bilateral talks with the US this week over its nuclear weapons programme — but that is something Tehran has wanted for years. There is still a very good chance that the meetings will prove to be an exercise in futility and a time-wasting ploy by Tehran.

Mr Obama also scrapped a plan for a missile defence shield in the Czech Republic and Poland, hoping to get in return Russian co-operation behind new sanctions against Tehran. There was optimism when President Medvedev said “sanctions are seldom productive, but they are sometimes inevitable”. Yet Vladimir Putin, and the Chinese, remain fiercely opposed to sanctions.

Meanwhile, America and its allies are being forced to witness a very public agonising by Mr Obama and his advisers over his Afghan strategy — six months after he announced that strategy.

This has all added to the perception that Mr Obama’s soaring rhetoric — which captured the imagination during last year’s election — is simply not enough when it comes to confronting the myriad challenges of the presidency. His spectacular Olympic failure will only add to that.

Does anyone have ANY doubt at all that if Chicago had been awarded the Olympics the story would have been ALL about Obama and the fact that there may be benefit to the USA relegated to the fine print?

I personally don't care if the Olympics come to the US; there has never been one on our soil that's made money and usually what is left in the wake after it's over is trash, short term jobs now gone and a whole lot of venues that will get very little use most already built at taxpayer expense.

I never once thought that the reason that His Highness went to Copenhagen was about anything but him. I just heard on the news last night that since he has been in office, BHO has had a whole division of people working on getting the Olympics to Chicago. EVERYTHING he does has a political component to it and it's usually about him.

Yeah, I'm glad he looks like even a bigger idiot than I think he already is. Now, call your reps and kill Obamacare and Cap and Trade.
