Default Ruger firearms

I noticed the other day that there had been no activity in this groups forum, (Luke beat me to changing that). I grew up around guns and as far back as I can recall my farter has had a P85 In the gun cabinet ( now his carry gun as he recently abtained his CHL) As I began to shop for a Semi Auto handgun, I always put ruger at the top of my preferance list.As soon as I held a P345 I knew what gun I wanted. it simply fits my hand like no other gun I have tryed. Sure their are lots of more expencive guns I would be proud to bring home, but I trust Rugers quality as much as any gun in its price range.

My reasons to love Ruger.
1. Reputation of quality
2. Price (nobody wants a cheap gun but who wants to pay too much?)
3. Look (In my opinion they build nice looking guns)
4. Made in USA ( something has to still be made here)
5. Shoots great

I have a mini-14. I have had it now for about 30 years I guess. It is one of my favorite rifles.I have owned a Ruger Black hawk. I have not been a big fan of their auto pistols in the past primarily because they just seemed to big an bulky looking for concealed carry and I like the German auto's. i.e. HK, Walther and Sig Sauer. I might get me one of the little 380's that they have come out with though for a bug.

Yes the P series are big guns, My p345 is much thiner than the older models but still large. The SR9 is also thin, but i would like to see a carry version of the SR9 to compete with the MP 9 compact... 3.5in 13 or so rounds 9x19. The LCP is probbobly great in some cases but for primary carry I want more and or larger ammo. But a 22 beats no gun when you need it!

BUMP!

my p89 9mm is a big'un but it is fun to shoot, i got it out of a trade for some stereo equipment so i have maybe 250 invested in it, always goes bang and never has any feed probs, i love it. it is my second pistol, my first being a bersa thunder .380 which is an ok gun but i like the hi-cap of the ruger. plus ammo availability is alot better than most.

I have a Ruger P95 9mm, not my main carry gun but once in a while I take it out and it really isn't any more uncomfortable then my H&K P2000 40s&w that I carry every day. I have the same type IWB holster for both and think that makes a lot of difference.

Thirty odd years ago I bought my first handgun, a Ruger .357 mag that unfortunately I was too naive to care to figure out what model it was. It had a 4" barrel and was rugged as anything. I traded it a year or so later for a 1954 Beretta .32 ACP which actually gave me a great pistol that I love in my collection, but for 30 plus years now I wish I had never left that Ruger from from my grip.

Recently I bought an LCP which is a great little gun, even it if is pretty much a clone of the Kel-Tec version 1 P-3AT (a configuration I like better than the Kel-Tec version2 currently available).

Now that has me looking for another old Ruger wheelgun to replace the one that left the empty space in my soul.

And now....
a horribly overpriced AR15 (but it's got a PISTON) that will likely be the recall queen of your gun cabinet!
The Ruger SR-556
There are some fine firearms that come out of the Ruger factories. Unfortunately, some of the products are little more than pre-F*****U* jokes. If you pick and choose from the product line you'll be okay.

Yeah I have to agree with most. I have an old P85 and absolutely love this gun. A great gun for the range. My primary is a Glock 27, which is probably the most accurate gun I've ever shot but something always keeps me coming back to my Ruger.

I have a Ruger LCP that I love except the very long length of the trigger pull. Does anyone know if and how this can be shortened? Thanks.
