| Hi Luke, I have all your cookies (USA Carry), U have a sponsor who is trying to hit me (and all your patrons) with a legit cookie I don't want, desantisholster.com (a sponsor?), I blocked it 4 ever, nothing personal, my reasons: it is not secure per the header I pulled off the cookie r-mouse click, cut 'n paste. It expires on Tuesday, June 02, 2037 8:00:00 PM. I don't mind session cookies which expire when I log off, or vital permanent cookies from USA Carry, my bank or the V.A., but a holster vendor allowing friendly access to it's ads, banners, news-letters or just a homing cookie sending out my e-mail address every time I go online back to the vendor for the next 19 years is not going into my 'accept' stack of trusted URL's I deal with. I know...picky me, but in MSIE I have my cookies set to alert me to any permanent cookies, some I need to access or I.D. myself to a site I do legit business with, but a 20-year homing unsecured (meaning it will can if it wants allow active scripting to enter my browser, pas thru a firewall undected or stopped with my acceptance of it, unless I flush all my temporary internet cookies and permanent ones too after each visit to USA Carry is one I have already set to 'reject' so I will neer see that 'Pivacy' warning again on USA Carry [Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Advanced > check both boxes to prompt the user ) I see no real problem if patrons get off on Spam from this vendor or (not being secure) any other vendor who monitors traffic out of desantisholster.com picks-up the patrons interest in guns. holsters and CCW's is something other comanies 'fish' for new buyers. If the patrons don't mind hearing about weapon-related Spam in their inboxes no big. Don't take this as anything but a simple warning that every patron will have to decide whether or not to accept that cookie or reject it, rejecting it will not have any impact on your site's usage in case cyber-novice patrons are concerned. My Regards, Canis-Lupus

| They are not one of our sponsors so it must be a cookie that is being set through the Google Ads. I have no control over that but don't think there is anything to worry about.

| Roger that Luke, B a royal pain to try to block the I.P.(s) it's bouncing from, they change every hour/sec. If it is not a vendor of USA Carry then I do recommend to patrons to 'Block All' of their cookies, meaning any cookie that comes in from desantisholster.com will never find it's way into a patron's 'trusted' sites, Spam jockey, and Google is full of 'em. Thanks for the SYSOP feedback. Canis-Lupus

| Nope and PC users don't need to either. Every since the first cookie was applied they have been accused of everything from causing WWII to alien invasions. In all but a very rare case they are completely harmless and cannot send your email address back to the home site. Cookies are the least of my worries while on the Internet. |

| Thanks for the word, both sides of it actually. I tend to dump my internet stuff periodically, my kids go to sites all the time. I have not received spam from desantis, but I'll look to see if I start - thanks again either way. |

| Harvesting cookies, sits in your temp internets, migrates to your idex.dat a complete history of every site U ever visited (not a file U want to hold a 20-year cookie), but only a coder can turn it into pages of script U can read and remove the trash, and the newer ones echo the target I.P. addy back 2 the 'who-is' sender who hits anyone@yourdomain.com , Macs/Linux don't have that nasty bit of Windows storage *.dat file in 'em. Send it 2 Trend Trend Micro HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan - Trend Micro USA and they will tell U a threat level for free! My 1st 'puter was an Apple IIE in 1982, so I been around a bit Howard. Thanx anyway, C-L

| Nice to see someone else who had a IIe. I think that was my third personal computer after using mainframes for about 12 years. I opened an ISP business back in 1995 using dial-up with Netscape 1.0 and was the only company around that could get you on the 'net with DOS. Got tired of the 90 hour weeks, sold it to a national company and found a job with regular hours. |
