Angry Viruses aquired from this site on forum...

I logged in yesterday and went to the offtopic forum where I saw a post about Julia Roberts, off course being curious I bit. Bad Mistake I got 4 viruses and spam that embedded itself on my laptop. This is really not what I expect of this site. Maybe you should have paying members before you can post because most thieves will not purchase a membership to try and defraud another individual...

I was going to cost me $200+/- just to get rid of those, but fortunately I have nephews who are computer geeks and helped me to rid myself of this scum. I hate to be robbed without even seeing a weapon presented. The only thing this will cost me today was some time and takeing my nephew to the range this weekend, on me, of course. Just take care when you jump into these arenas, you don't really know who is behind that monitor....

What was the name of the thread from where the virus came? Were you asked to click on some link, or did it just come from you trying to read a thread?

It had a link but I thought the site was safe.. my bad! The laptop that "caught the cold" was protected by "Kaperskys" anti virus. My company uses that instead of McAfee, Symantec, or other.

There is always a danger when you click on a site. We have some pretty good anti-virus protection but you never know.

If there is no content related to what this site is abt, NEVER, NEVER click on a link...sux that you got suk'd into the trap..Granted, Luke is doing the best that he can and we all appreciate what he does and has for us here. I think he also needs a few of us to be "Spam Cops" here to delete this spam/troll crap to help prevent honored members from stepping into a pile of poo before there is a chance to get it cleaned up while you/I visit here.

Remember if you are not running any protection you will pick up all sorts of crud on the net. First rule in computing is install a virus program and keep it current!
