Default More issues popping up and still waiting to here about the others

    10-16-11

I noticed the issue acouple of days ago but didn't think anything of it until last night and this morning.

My log on got kicked everytime I wanted to respond to a thread.

First thing, I log in when I hit the web site. I bounce around looking at the new postings from the 'New Post' tab. I read several threads and find a particular posting I want to reply to. I hit either tab for 'quick reply' or 'reply with quote' and I write my response in the provided window.

When finished writing the reply I hit the 'post reply' tab, the screen changes as if my reply is being posted and I get an error message bar that tells me I don't have permission for this action. At that point if I scroll to the top I find I am no longer logged in.

I return to the edit area, highlight the entire passage i've written and copy it, return to the log in area by hitting the 'log in' tab at the top of the page. The page returns me to the thread I was just on and I can then paste my original response back into the edit box.

I've also notice some eratic cursor behavior while in the edit box. It doesn't flow ssmoothly. For instance, if I reread what I typed and realize I ran a couple of words together and need to separate them, I'll move my mouse cursor to the position I need the edit cursor to be and click the mouse button. The edit cursor doesn't move. It stays at the end of the sentance where it was when I started the edit. But if I hit the space bar (the key needed for the completion of the edit) the edit cursor jumps to the location and the edit takes place. That has happend often this morning. (But the cursor seems to work fine in this edit box)

The log on problems have been present from the beginning. I've sent eamil directly to you about this and nothing ever came of it so I've learned to live with it. But it continues to disrupt my activity on the site and it is getting so frustrating.

PS: the flippin log on problem hit me here. I had to hit the back arrow, come back hee, add this comment, save/copy it all, go back out and re-log in for the 3rd or 4th time this morning, come back here and find that the post did get posted even though I had to do log in again.

    Very frustrating!

What browser version and operating system are you using?

I haven't been experiencing any problems, although I can empathize with your frustration.

Have you tried a different browser, or clearing the cache of your current browser?

The software this site uses is fairly standard, and it's more likely to be a problem with your browser. Do you have problems on any other sites?

I'm runnig IE 9 and have been long before I started having all these troubles. I tried Chrome for a while but I didn't care for the GUI so I dumped it and came back to IE 9. Out of the 5 gun sites I go to, this seems to be the only one I have troubles with. And if it were the same trouble time after times I'd say it was my browser but the oddities keep popping up. ever since joining in '10 I've had trouble geting logged off by particular actions. The most recient is getting kicked after responding to postings. It's getting to the point over the last few days that I copy my entire entry before I hit 'post quick relpy' because I can count on being redirected to the log on page.

As a matter of habit I clear cache daily and run virus scans and update my software and all of the other things that have been suggested. I'm not yippin at you. I'm alweays open to suggestions and I do thank you for the suggestions. I've just reached a frustration level that no memeber should reach. And I'm not the only one.

    Walt,

The other gun forums you visit with no trouble: what forum software are they running? It should be identified at the bottom of each page. USACarry is running vBulletin® Version 4.1.6.

    Have you tried Firefox?

Can you reproduce the problem in IE8?

XDtalk is running vBulletin 3.8.7, Gun & game and Guns.com don't show what engine they are using but these ar the ones I don't have issue with.

I tried to go down to IE7 but it is not supported by Windows7. No, I have not tried Firefox but I think I'll download it again. I ran Firefox for a long time but had to go back to IE for a compatibility issue I was having with a comm bridge to my work network.

More information for you to work with.

The problems are not a result of the browser used. I am running FireFox and have the same trouble of being logged off by the system. I down loaded the latest version of FireFox Monday and this is really the first chance I've had to test drive it. Things were looking good then I went in to reply to a post and when I got to "post quick reply" I got the "you do not have permission...." message and had to log back in.

Once I logged in again, I was redirected to the screen showing me that my reply had actually been posted.
It is almost like the system is loosing me because I am bouncing around between threads.

I had the same problem several weeks ago and then it went away. About the same time I had problems on a couple of other gun forums where I couldn't post at all. I'm using IE9. On the other sites, I switched to using Firefox and that worked. Then a week or so ago, I tried IE9 on the other sites and everything worked fine. Gremlins!

I'm actually beginning to believe in Gremlins. For the last week or so I haven't had any issues, but now that I've said that.... :-)

I'll jump back here and let everyone know what's going on and if I have any more issues. Thanks for the feed back everyone.
