Slow site? Any settings I need to look at?

Hi, new member here. I have been enjoying this site and have learned a lot, but I have experienced long waits for pages to load on this site. Page loads can take as long as 1 minute, some loads have been longer. It is the only web site that I visit with this trouble. Are there any site specific settings I need to look at to improve navigation?

I checked and everything seems to be loading fine here.

I did some experimenting and found that using Google Chrome has eliminated the slow loading problem I was having. For me, IE and Firefox do not work well on this site.

I use Firefox and had this problem until I disallowed Google in the options box in the lower left corner. Now everything loads normally. The downside is that apparently that disabled my use of Google entirely on this computer. I have found I get by quite well without it, however.

I use normal regular google on internet explorer and it works fine for me...

I've been using Internet Explorer by clicking on my favorites, and it is slow. I may need to change my method of loading.
