Yes, we did some upgrades and patched the security hole that this guy got in through. I don't think we were down that long.

I did not keep any notes but I reckon thirty to forty five minutes.

Is this anything like what was always causing PDO to be inaccessible for days at a time?

I don't know what the reasons PDO went down. But I have made a few changes recently to make sure the site is as stable as possible.
