Default Social Groups

Okay,

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but why should I have to join social groups for almost every single section? I think someone was carried away with this feature of forum software. It's a great forum, and I have really enjoyed it, but I am tired of joining social groups to simply join in the conversation and reply to a post.

For instance, I wanted to reply to a favorite camping spot...... however, I feel it should not be necessary to "join" a social group to post a reply.

If this is how it's going to be... I'm going to leave the forum..... and not return

could a mod or admin please answer this? Please give a logical explanation.......not just a "this is the way it is"

The point behind that was so people would be a member of the group. Be able to bring feedback on topics and own the gear of the group they are joining. It was set up that way so people would not just post one or two liners. It's like a hang out for people to talk with other people who do the same things/own the same gear. Like the M&P forum all the members of that user group all own or are in the middle of getting that gun. Same with all rest of them. Some even say MUST OWN/be able to help/trouble shoot. Sorry you are so up set about it. I would PM luke about it. I like it my self. I stay out of groups i know nothing about/do not have the gear.

I kinda agree with MP3Mogul. I like to browse through all of the sub-topics and if I have any input worth sharing I give it. I don't mind Joining the individual groups though. It is sort of a pain to have to go back and sign up for the group. But that's how it's set up so that's how it is. I think of this site as one big social group anyway.

Yeah but again. We have the whole forum for feedback. The user groups are like club houses for users in that group. I mean there have been times when i have wanted to post on a topic but when i see it's in a user group. I don't join it unless i have more information and help to bring to the group other then that one post i want to make.

Oh oh. I just bought my AR, so now if I want to post something I have to join "the Group"......you guys are scaring me!
BUT on another note, I have not checked this out yet. What is involved to join another Group on here; more info that has already been established; Yours and your Wifes SS#; what kind of vehicle do You drive??? On another another note note, I remember when I signed onto USAcarry I was pretty much posting in NH (that's where I'm from incase You couldn't figure that out) and there was not much activity in there. I realized Most Threads were in General Discussion. So, I pretty much go there and New Member Threads, then here and there check the others. I see the notice that says, "you must sign in to join this group...", but I thought it was a one time thing for the entire Forum.
On another another another note note note, I really hope You, MP3Mogul dont disappear from this Forum. The more input from people like You/Group the better others are informed. What else are You going to do if you leave, look at porn on your computer all day?!

LOL, i was the same sambo but there is not much in the NH forum. I also found people who did not even live in NH. Posted in there and gave feedback to things i was asking about NH. User groups take 30 secs to join, when you are logged in you go to the top of the page and CLICK JOIN THIS GROUP.... After that you are free to post what ever you want. But again i do not see this changing because it was set up that way to keep spammers/one liners out of the user groups. If you do not have any thing that can help the user group other then that one post you want to make. Then don't join just post it in the GD topic.

True, it kinda sucks when you see something posted on a social group forum to which you do not belong and can't post until you join, but hey, taking the time to join is only a minor inconvenience. If you want to post something, even only that one time and never again, just take the time (only an extra minute or so, no big deal) and join the group.

I think I'll join all of the social groups now, so I'll be able to comment as I please.

That's actually a good idea. If I weren't so lazy, I'd probably do the same thing.
